Trump says Palestinians should leave Gaza permanently and US will 'take over' strip

Shortly after meeting Netanyahu...

Proving yet again what an ignorant moron he is.

Tell him what why doesn't he clear out one of the States in US and move them all there. Is that his plan for taking over Greenland? Get them working extracting oil/gas there for the US.

Trump's son in law is Jewish and a major property developer. Trump himself has been involved in real estate for most of his adult life. I'm sure this plan to turn Gaza into the Israeli riviera wasn't at all part of a long term plan between Trump and Netanyahu to help Trump win the election by doing all the damage on Biden's watch and make a ton of cash on the side with big property development contracts.

Many American Muslims and Arabs voted for Trump because they blamed Biden for the war and crisis in Gaza. It was so obviously a case of 'be careful what you wish for'. Well they got what they deserve - a President who is more intent on lining his family's and oligarch cronies' pockets through real estate deals and lucrative contracts then looking out for Palestinians or even his own people.

Correct, you reap what you sow.

It was so obvious as well,
In an ideal world then protest votes are fine, whatever, but we don't live in an ideal world and American politics certainly isn't ideal - how people could look at Harris and Trump and think "Yeah, they're exactly the same" is insane

I know it sucks to be alive right now, but from a historical perspective this will be fascinating. How do the traditional democratic countries respond when the largest economic democracy and military country goes down the same path as the Pariah States. Will they sanction the US if it does continue this line? If Trump does rig the next election, will they call it out?

It easy when it's someone you're already opposed to.

I see were already back to waking up to find out what the insane twat has said this time. Just have to keep reminding ourselves like 4 years ago 99% of it won't happen.

Just look how Canada have already played him.

Can someone explain it to me, because I've never understood how it works. How do public building projects end up costing far more and get delayed by 3 years and it's the tax payer that foots the bill? If you hire a company and sign a contract where they agree to build it, then they have to stick with it. I get there might be some additional costs, but double to 1bn? How?

Because the client's criteria keep changing after the price has been fixed; thus freeing the builder from anything remotely resembling the original quote.

The kickbacks given to the minister who awarded the contract also have to increase with inflation caused by COVID, Ukraine war etc. That coupled with incompetence on various levels in underestimating the size and complexity of the project.

Interesting that the construction company was called Kier construction. Not that Keir was in power back rhen but amusing nonetheless.
