:(

I know. It's awfully depressing being a Hurricanes fan right now & I'm not looking forward to next season. We are going to get spanked. How the heck does Hammett think he's going to grow or keep his fan base if he keeps losing? The attendance numbers are dreadful enough as it is. Star players put bum's on seats & so before they've even played a match, they've most likely already lost a few hundred/thousand fans that would rather watch the game on TV than go down to the stadium.
Vito has confirmed he's staying on, how about Smith?

the side could look something like this ...

1.
Ben May
2. Dane Coles
3. Michael Bent
4. Jeremy Thrush
5. James Broadhurst
6. Jack Lam
7. Karl Lowe
8. Victor Vito
9. Chris Eaton
10. Daniel Kirkpatrick
11. Andre Taylor
12. Jayden Hayward
13. Conrad Smith
14. Alapati Leiua
15. Cory Jane

16. Laurence Corlett
17. Jacob Ellison
18. Jason Eaton
19. Faifili Levave
20. TJ Perenara
21. Beauden Barrett
22. Julian Savea

it looks like the Hurricanes could have a decade like the Highlanders had after Kronfeld, Lima, Hoeft, Meeuws, Wilson all left at the same time, on paper they are the worst team NZ Super Rugby side now

my understanding is that Jason Eaton has signed with the crusaders? may need confirmation - ok seems that maybe he isn't!

It's also my understanding that Jaden Hayward hasn't been signed for next season.

Also durign an ITM cup game I heard the comentary say that Chris Eaton had signed for an overseas club. needs confirmation though.

They still have some quality players.

Broadhurst - impressive player that I think could be in NZ's top 4 locks within the next two years.
Vito - will become captian and their most important player
Beauden Barrett - I think the most promising young player in NZ right now, I'm not 100% sure he's ready for week in week out super15 yet though.
Conrad Smith - will be interesting to see how he goes without Nonu or Tana inside him. He's a good player but he hasn't been that good in super rugby and he's always had nonu or Tana inside him. Still the canes will be better for having him in their side.
Cory Jane - he has just signed and it's a good thing too.
Dane Coles - very experienced now and still young, should relish the chance to be the #1 hooker.
Julian Savea - he's got potential, I think someone needs to put the hard word on him. If he worked hard on his fittness there is no reason why he couldn't be like digby ioane but he just seems a yard short of speed and power. If someone can show him what he needs to do in the gym to do it he can be very big for NZ.

But the side is going to suffer without Nonu who has always been the go-to man for the canes. And I dont think Dan Kirkpatrick is a truely worthy super rugby 10

Expect another rubbish forward pack made up with the likes of Naikatini, Levave, Reddish, Ellison, Fugistaller, with a great backline featuring the likes of Ngatai, Leuia, Perenara, Savea etc etc. How can they keep picking these guys from Wellington when they continue to be outplayed by guys from Manawatu and Hawkes Bay?! Does me head in.

Such soft forwards all they want to do is seagull and run with the ball. Foreman, Fia, Oliver, Stone, Polson, Tietjens and Gibbins are all better than their counterparts in the Wellington team, yet won't get a look in while they continue to give out undeserving contracts to Wellington guys. Case in point is Brad Shields, sure he has a bit of potential and had a decent game or two, but he hardly outplayed any Manawatu loosies yet gets a 2 year deal. To make matters worse he is just another typical Wellington player who doesn't hit rucks, all he does is carry the ball. Hurricanes have always had a good backline but their forwards are all individuals and seagulls who don't get any good pill for their backs.

Yeah Eaton hasnt been offered a contract from anyone and Hayward has had interest from everyone except the Hurricanes. Because obviously they have the most depth in the midfield

They also let Horrell go to the Chiefs.. So they haven't signed either of the standout 12's in the catchment area after letting their all black 12 go.. brilliant work once again from the 'Canes. Watch as Ngatai gets given the jersey on a plate.
