HES announces Rugby League Live for PS3/360

That is what I'm loving about this game and think they've done so well, the reward for playing good smart footy, sometimes its like fuuuuu this is hard, but then you do something that makes you go....huh, how was that so easy, but it turns out you have to play strategically much like you would in a real game, it certainly isn't like past games where you just throw the ball anywhere and break the line for a try every time, it is very rewarding when you get something right and not in accheap way and the AI isn't cheap either, it plays much like yourself, smart disciplined footy and punishes you if you makea mistake. LOVING IT!!!!.

Yesterday i was really putting it on v the AI on medium 20min matches
<O:p</O:pI was the Faiders rated 80 v the chooks whom were #1 on top of the ladder<O:p</O:p
I pumped them 36-0 at Bruce Stadium, it was their biggest smashing of the year and my biggest win by a mile on medium.<O:p</O:p
I scored some epic trys ranging from all over the ground - it was deadset amazing, scoring length of the field tries, trys from grubbers and using overlaps....on a kick return picked up at my 20m line the Dugan stepped thru the chasers, and with just the FB to beat, drew and passed to Croker, whom went under the sticks, this was an 80m try people without the use of a fumble, or intercept.<O:p</O:p
then i played S.O.O 3rd match - NSW smashed QLD 29-0.....scored more epic tries from all over the ground - no try is ever the same, except the little cheaky blindside move where u winger goes over (this doesnt always work however, u can be pulled over the sideline)<O:p></O:p>
Then the Raiders travelled to fortress Brookvale, doesnt this ground look the part on a sunny afternoon, its picture perfect brookvale.....pumped manly 24-0 again scoring random tries, from all over the park.<O:p</O:p
This morning before work i got up to meet the Knaughts @ Bruce Stadium - they are wallowing down 4th last, within 3 mins, the Tongue from dummy half scoots to the right, fends of the first man on the D-Line, looks fr the draw and pass, nothing was on, so decided to fend off the FB, and boom, back under the sticks for a 60m try.....Tongue never got his breath back after that effort, but still managed man of the match, pumped them 30-0.<O:p</O:p
Raiders now sitting in equal 2nd, i am finally scoring points, and my F/A is catching up, but i think i left the green scoring machine a bit too late to get most tries with Vidot n co - bit like real life really<O:p</O:p
So when you start putting it on the AI, you realised how much you have learnt in this game - never hit the line with trying a fend, or a barge - always look for the gaps, play sensible, no loose balls, no silly turnover, good kicking game, and maintain the balance of possession, the weight of tackling 60% of the game where's down the AI, and it just opens up, and u can start puttin on the ritz.<O:p</O:p
It reminded me of JLR, when I thought I mastered that game after 1 week, but 2 years later and some epic multiplayer sessions, I was still learning little things…..RLL has these little things, and once u find them, there's no healing on the sore thumbs!!<O:p</O:p

Oh yes league video gaming has arrived
And I haven’t even tuned to side view yet<O:p</O:p
I cant stop playing and thinking about my next gameplan<O:p</O:p
Damn cowboys who are 7th just beat me 12-10<O:p</O:p
I was up 10 nil before half time, and 2 runaway tries to Thurston who stepped dugan on both occasions put the knife in the back….i was severely shattered, I pushed too many passes trying to put them away for good, and it backfired<O:p</O:p

AK no side view? whats up mate? Please tell me this game is good on sideview.

The game is fantastic on side view, probably the best place to get familiar with the controls and pass timing and knowing your limits in regards to how many passes you can throw. Once you have the timing down then behind view becomes alot better to play.

You my friend, were absolutely SPOT ON

Read my RLL thoughts on Sidhe forums. :D

Hell no bud!! Sideview all the way and thanks for the heads up. One question, does it matter if two people are playing different views online?

Been reading about this game on the Sidhe forums and it sounds great. Very hard in the beginning but gets better all the time, sounds awesome!!! From my experience when you pick up a sport sim and you are ripping on the first game it will be a coffee coaster very soon. Hell, I am not a league fan( been watching alot more in the last year) but any format of a rugby game online spells HUGE WINNER. Can't wait until it comes out in Europe.

Only thing that makes me laugh is guys complaining about the rosters and franchise!! Screw that!! It has great online and gameplay I would give my left ball for a Union game like it.

Yes it does support headset, but I hate it, I can't concentrate properly with someone blabbing in my ear lol!.

Will be interesting to see how first week sales have gone. This game has certainly split the Rugby League fanbase apart, just how many grind it out and find out how good this game really is, it seems like not as many people as there should be liking this game which is a real shame because Bigant has almost nailed the gameplay, the realism and depth it has was totally unexpected from me and I'm totally blown away at what they've achieved for a first crack at it.

I do reckon there needed to be another easier difficuly for novices because some fans haven't got the patience to learn how to play a game and expect to do everything easily which I guess has been ingrained in them from past games.

Huge congrats to the Bigant team for stepping Rugby League gaming up to the next level. Top work.

Radman, are you a member on the Sidhe RL2 forums with the same username by any chance?

It'll be interesting indeed. I think your mature fans generally love it, but the popcorn munching, low attention span teenagers just don't get it. Here's hoping that column A is the more dominant among the video game playing league audience, and that they buy this game in droves. I still maintain that the NRL should directly invest in the next instalment, but some solid sales would definitely help lay the platform for this future of this game.

On a side note, I'm really eager to see how BigAnts work with the AFL turns out now.

AND their Cricket game which promises to be something exceptional. If the gameplay can get anywhere near the level that this game has we're in for a treat!.

I think the gameplay is crap for a 'next generation' League game. I expected more in that department for sure. Depth of the game is almost a joke and at $130 (NZD) I wouldn't be suprised if sales weren't great. I hope SIDHE have more to do with the next series, Big Ant studios have made a bit of a mess and have even taken out features! whats with that? your meant to add to the previous ***les, not take from them. Not much of a chance for those that are unsure of league picking up this game.

Sidhe's version had all the depth. Franchise, fully customisble rosters, teams etc. But in my opinion the gameplay was terrible, and nothing like league. RLL has the gameplay, for the most part and then some absolutely shocking omissions like replays, roster and roster editing. If I have to choose then its gameplay and RLL all the way. The gameplay on medium is tough and challenging with awsome rugby league moments let down only by some cheap and nasty AI advantages that are a hangover from the Sidhe series. You can still play it like league and win though, which is great. Also, long range tries are back! No more getting run down by props when on a break with slater.

i'll be converting to side-cam very soon
i just wanted to get down and dirty and beat the AI on medium, because at first I spent 15 rounds of an NRL season losing everymatch on MEDIUM and I couldn’t handle that after flopping the AI 48-0 in my first ever game on EASY.
Now I have a good defensive strategy, I will be converting to side-view â€" like all rugby games it takes time to know where u at in defense and where the gaps are in attack from the sideview….i am confident to make the change, now I know how to defend on MEDIUM
As I have told my missus - It will take me approx 5-10 goes before I am as lethal on the side as I am from the back â€" lol
But yeah â€" the game looks 100 times better on the side â€" feels like broadcast TV, and looks the part, just like all rugby, and soccer games in the past

Well actually Rugby League Live wasn't a sequel... it was an entirely new game by a new developer and requiring a new game code. So they didn't actually "take anything out", they just didn't build equivalents that existed in the Sidhe franchise. Just remember how bare bones the current gen (they're no longer "next gen") Madden ***les were when they first came out. It wasn't because they "took things away", it was because they had to start from scratch and couldn't use the old codes.
