HES announces Rugby League Live for PS3/360

I have the utmost sympathies for the NH members not being able to access this game, but please don't let the wait turn into expectation and self hype. It is a good game, but needs a solid playing for quite some time to show through the qualities it does have.

It most likely will be a disappointing first couple of hours with it I can assure you. Maybe more, but still persevere, if your a true leaguey or rugby mad fan you'll be able to look past all the faults and find something worth your time.

If your a casual gamer, or someone after technical and simulatory perfection (or anything near it), you'll be very sadly disappointed and that won't change I'm afraid. Don't buy it and then you won't be "ripped off" as some claim.

That is the only word that can describe this game in Multiplayer. Whether you're in the same room, or playing a mate over LIVE/PSN it's EPIC!!!!

All those people that told me to stick with it and it'll click were right! I've learned to live with the flaws instead of wishing they weren't there, and the sliding defence controls make up for a lack of defensive control. I'm so glad I listened to you because you were right all along.

To all those people who have played this for one game, one hour or even one day, and they don't like it.... please, STICK WITH IT and you'll be rewarded with a fantastic Rugby League game

RLL is EASILY the best Multiplayer Rugby Game since Jonah Lomu Rugby.

So what did it cost you all in total, including import tax, and postage and packaging? If you don't mind me asking. This could swing me to get it early!

exact post was on sidhe forums...

I've played 10 or so games of RLL. I like it an awful lot.

Don't get me wrong it isn't perfect, a lot can be improved. Key features, to me, such as being able to update teams and rosters should have been in. Visually, it's alright, nothing else. Full of inaccuracies, such as black players being white.

But ultimately, if you can shrug those problems off, this is the best RL game there has ever been. There is a surprising level of depth to actually playing the game. Casual fans are going to have to stick with it, because it's not easy to pick it up, and start to identify gaps and areas to exploit. I'll do a much more detailed write up soon, but I'll definitely be getting this on it's UK launch. It's not perfect, but it's as close to it as RL fans have had. A lot to be positive about.

Glad to hear it, was pretty sure that you'd give it a decent crack. Shame your on Xbox as is Locksley and a few others Dan, as would be good to play you all.

To be honest Craig I'll likely get versions for both consoles.

Damn that'd be good. I'm determined to set up an online League for the PSN version if I can play a good lag free game with someone from over your way. That'd set the standard of connections playing well from that distance and then away we go!

I'd imagine it'd be great to have even just 8 of us play a double round robin (make our own draw up), then semi's and a final of our own custom comp. Results posted up on the forum game by game.

The best thing about doing it that way is that if some combination of people can't play their game you can skip to the next one and they can play theirs at the end of the round etc.

I'm getting a little ahead of meself really, but quite excited about the first online rugby tourney of TRF's history being possible.

And looky looky, it'll be league not my beloved union!!!!

Okay, anyone with a PS3 who wants to be part of a Rugby League Live competition, sign up below.

I'll run it on here, but I need to make a couple of rules (for levelling it out).

Anyone who has a team rated above 80 cannot boost the default ratings with a roster shift. Anyone below 80 can do a roster shift to get their team as close to 80 as possible.

20 min games.

If a game is lagging badly you must quite out before your opposition puts more than 4pts on you and send a message straight away informing them of this (or if you have a mic tell them audibly).

When you have a team you must stick with it until the next comp.

Dummy half runs will be strictly limited to two per set (due to what is rapidly being discovered as an online tactic to grab massive yardage). These two half runs can come at any stage of the six, so it's still potent.

Results to be posted up so I can do a table.

Once I have enough people I'll set up a PS3 thread for it.

I'll grab my team now:
C A Iversen: Cronulla Sharks.

C'mon Radman I know you want to get the Warriors before someone else does.

It just sounded a lot on first read. (wut?)

If I was on at the right times, had the game, or a PS3, I'd join you.

Yeah I'm in and bags the Warriors.

I've been real busy of late so scheduling games and making time to play may be a problem.

The good thing is there'd be no real urgency required to play through the competition, just as people are available to play their games. Maybe each having to play one game a week would be a good pace to go through it.

Yeah, sounds good, maybe if this works out, next season we can have a full comp playing the games as scheduled for the NRL or Super League season.
