Looking good Quiche. Howay man....put a vid up so we can all revel in the sumptuous gameplay.

He did say earlier that so far with the matches he has played no national anthems

... and silence descends again on the thread as we enter the evening hours

Quichey-Buns - are you playing hardball or what? ;)

Ronan O'Gara rated 94 and David Wallace 92 is very generous, if they are that high then imagine how high Sexton should be

also Jamie Heaslip rated 83, he's probably Ireland's best and most consistent forward for 2 years and better than SOB and Wallace for sure

like Cymro said on his review, the rating aren't that realistic

John Hayes is also rated better than Ross!

Shocked at the Heaslip rating, seriously, have AJ and the guys not been watching any Irish rugby in the past couple of seasons? He's a stand-out player

I'm going to ignore the fact that ROG is rated 94, its obviously some sort of alternate universe/continuity that this pic is taken from. Even in his finest hour on his finest day, ROG was never a 94 out of 100.

AJ or Glen, you don't post much these days, but care to tell us how you built the ratings for each player? ...because there are obviously some that are well off, probably based off their historical abilities as opposed to current form, but if that is the case then it doesn't explain SOB getting a 90 either.

Colour me

Hello all! Sorry, mad week, only home a while ago and as requested I played on hard as Ireland vs NZ! I barely got any ball for the whole first half, they won every ruck, killed me at the breakdown, i was penalised a lot, but i managed to hold off their attack which was generally one dimensional. Half Time it was Ireland 0-9 NZ.
2nd half started similarly, but on the hour mark they broke me down and ran in a try,l to be honest it was my bad defending as I'm still getting used to the game. That made it 16-0. Then finally i came into the game and started to get ball, worked it across a few times. The in the 73rd minute I put a great move together running the ball all the way across and Luke Fitzgerald ran in a try, I was delighted, missed the con, its hard! So I was chuffed with 5-16...but then in the last minute the same thing happened to me again, and they ran in a converted try for a final score of Eire 5-23 NZ.
So, to be honest i thought it'd be harder, they dominated 60 mins of possession but couldn't brake my shady defense down. I can't see how any of you more experienced rugby gamers will have a problem even on hard against the All Blacks, but for me and other newcomers its encouraging!

Oh and just to answer again, no anthems in the game!

Sorry for the lack of a vid again, which will no doubt feed the doubters on the forum, but Im wrecked now. However I will defo upload one of a similar match either tomorrow or on Saturday morning when I'II be playing a World Cup for the first time!

Care to say what Canada's rating is? Possibly the other tier two nations as awell?

Is there a way to change the difficulty of the kicking without changing the difficulty of the open play?

Cheers for the info QB... all being legit, colour me worried about the difficulty on Hard, both in terms of the opposition just having an unfair monopoly on the ball and in terms of their lack of attacking prowess.

I'd hoped that Hard difficulty meant improved AI offense and defense, not just keeping the ball from you via auto scrum & ruck wins. You said you started to win some ball back in the 2nd half, so perhaps it isn't as unfair in the breakdown as I fear... but I do have fears :(

Still optimistic about online play however as I hope this will be where I spend the majority of my time against human opponents and questionable AI - if online does not stand up well in terms of connectivity/responsiveness then I will surely cry!

This worries me. New Zealand will be the best team and on hard should be putting 30-40 points on you in my opinion. Longevity worries me again...

Online is the only worry for me. Put in many hours on MP with a friend on this game and there are alot of small glitches etc. I am sure this will be amplified online(lag etc). This is my major concern for both RC and WC 2011. Playing against the AI zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz for me therefore it is all about MP online.

Was super shocked to see on the RC forum and to some extent this forum that most people are looking to play against the AI instead of online. I would have thought that when rugby games had MP online that most people would be opting for this.

It all depends though, If he spent the whole time defending, then NZ were always on the attack, meaning very few chances of counter attack which is normally where most tries come from. If QB was just booting to touch each time he got the ball it would make it difficult for anyone to win by massive margins. Also, unless I missed it, no mention of half length so this may of been a 5 min half so there may of been points every couple of mins which isn't to shabby. If it was 20 mins a half then its slightly different though :)

I suppose to make it harder, we could just give every NZ player maxed stats, that would surely test any ones skillz ;)

I wonder if playing using the hard difficulty stops the players running round like a bunch under 12's rugby. No set lines and the players just bunch up. No improvement from Rugby 08 in the real areas where it matters. This is an arcade game not a sim.

I won't be buying this game after playing the demo. It plays just like rugby challenge 06 (swordfish one)!

Is there offline multiplayer? And do people like Ashton run support lines?

Hell no it don't. The swordfish games had no front row, it was always about the back line. Pass pass pass pass tackle on the wing. pass pass pass pass pass pass tackle on the other wing. HD version of 08 with a new rucking mechanic true, but nout like the swordfish games.

Yes, up to 4 players I believe. In the demo the support line is awful, they always seem to get stuck behind the defence and forget how to sprint. Hoping this is fixed, or the AI of your own team improves with difficulty too

Yes, it was only 5 mins aside so I take your point about the score, but I was coming back into it, so I don't think the score would've changed too much. I think the AI did improve on hard, however it doesn't hide the herd of cattle running patterns at times. It was enjoyable to be bullied at the brakedown, and yes I was kicking to touch to relieve pressure for most of the first hour, cos whenever I tried to counter they were up very quick, however as previously mentioned, I'm not an experienced player!

Oh yea, this makes a huge difference, I normally play 20 minute halves when 15 minutes are not available, for me 15 minute halves are perfect(perfect score line and conservative rugby), a nice 30 minute game, i think it was available RL1 and RL2, don't know if it is available in 2011. This means in a 20 minute half the score would be Irleland 20-92 New Zealand a pretty good thrashing. For example people now on one 10 minute demo half are winning average maybe user 24 ai 7, and we think that is a thrashing on our part, so it seems the hard AI is beating him about as easy as we are defeating easy AI on the demo. Yea, the time makes a big difference, not to mention the AI probably plays like it would play a longer game with more conservative rugby, while us users are going for the try every time in the demo.:) This is a big relief when he said 5 minute halves. I gurantee he would lose by atleast 50-60 points if he plays 20 minute halves. Could you give it a try (QUICHEBUNS) would be Interesting we could all place bets.:) I say 20 minute halves against New Zealand, score is New Zealand 86 Ireland 27. ANY BETS ?? :):p
Cheers and Salud

Those Ireland ratings were f#*king shocking. Sorry to swear, but that ****** me off. Heaslip is waaaaaay better then O'Brien and Wallace and O'Gara is plain ****. Sorry but HB are useless and deep down everyone knows it.
