France v New Zealand - 16/11/2024 (20.10)

I definitely don't get my rugby opinions from reddit aka woke censorship central. I'm also never swayed by opinions merited on internet points and democratic "consensus."

this is the first time in recent memory ive seen anyone think he should be in the squad....let alone claim he's been brilliant

I'm guessing you frequent one of those Kiwi echo chambers.

Jalibert refused a spot on the bench. That's French.
Makes for great banter and credit to him for being an individual but it's a bit short sighted for a rugby player in the modern game.

Starters get more minutes but the bench is crucial and almost always influences the final result either way in a tight game. Having two different types of 10, and especially a 10 that can move to 15 allowing for a double pivot, is almost a standard these days.

Apparently it wasn't a spot on the bench but rather a traveling reserve. Wanted to play for his club rather than sit in **** and tie.

Hmm, conflicting reports. In Kiwi land, "reserve" means bench though I take it not so in Europe.

If true and he's all of a sudden third choice then his protest makes a bit more sense I guess.

Drama and comedy. So very French.

I love Haka, that's unusual and interesting to watch for a foreigner :)
Love the haka, I just wish opponents were allowed to respond as they wish, rather than having to leave room for the camera crew to lie down between the teams

Belting score from NZ - the second nature skills of this nation never fail to amaze me as an Englishman and how we still can't replicate it.

They just read the defence so well and they have that knack of when to hit the miss pass/wide pass, when to go short and can adapt in what seems like a millisecond.

The way they are able to manoeuvre sides like Ireland and France around is so impressive.

(Not to say that France are not capable
of the same btw- this should be some game!)
