The Times are reporting today that Jerry Flannery is out for up to 10 weeks after being penned in for surgery on his achilles. He'll most likely miss the first 3 matches of the 6 Nations including the trips to Paris and London but it's hard to see him getting back in for the final 2 games unless Fogarty or Cronin have a complete nightmare.

For f*** sake, 2 class hookers last year both f***ed due to injury this year. Rotten.

Awful news for Munster too.

Damn :(

Best and Flannery both out, excellent oppurtunity for Cronin to get a few caps under his belt.

As long as the referees continue not to penalise crooked throws at the lineout Munster will be OK, but if they do we are f***ed.

They'll get away with it for Saints at Thommund park (they get away with anything and everything there), but they're otherwise f***ed when they have to travel to France and Italy in that respect.

It's terrible news for Munster. I assume Dennis Fogarty will get a run now but he needs to sort out his lineout throwing. I wouldn't discount him losing the shirt to Damien Varley.

From an Ireland perspective, it's a huge opportunity for Sean Cronin. He has a chance to make the shirt his own, much like Flannery did a few years ago after Frank Sheahan got injured.

Confirmed today that the injury isn't as bad as expected and he'll only be out for 5 weeks.
