Chasing teammates either level or behind the kicker can put a player into an onside position. Basic law of rugby. Didn't apply in this case though as Masoe was obviously advancing whilst in an offside position and therefore the infringement occurred before he was actually put onside. If he just stayed still until Armitage put him onside the try would have stood.

There was one the other week, maybe in Super Rugby?, where a player caught the ball with his foot just off the floor and then put it down, and he thought it'd be a 22 restart but it was a 5m scrum instead.
