Euro 2020[1]

I do want England to win... but this incessant booing when Italy has the ball and during the national anthem... incredibly poor form and disappointing.

Pickford didn't have Chiesa's shot covered at all there when he absolutely should have. Italy need to start peppering shots at him, he'll **** up.

Shocked Italy have only had 59% possession. England happy to just try hit Italy on the counter.

This has been absolutely dull from minute 3 onwards.

England strong for first 20mins but Italians have played themselves back in (have to really).

Just need to not be afraid of holding possession.

Good game so far. Had the makings of a classic with that early goal but England bossed that first half. Few warning signs before HT, though.

Don't see Italy scoring from open play to be honest, maybe a bit of Chiesa magic. Spinazzola has been a massive loss, Emerson has been so poor both sides of the ball.

Feel England starting to sit back a bit too much. They put a lot of pressure on Italy at the start and towards the end were starting to let them play at their own pace.

Maybe it's a kind of strategy like that? To exhaust the Italy now and they'll start to "attack" in the end of the 2nd half to score a second goal

Thought before the game that it'd be entertaining until someone scored, unfortunately has played out exactly like that. England well on top early on and will still be happy enough despite being less dominant as the half wore on. Italy not posing too much of a threat and leaving England happy to hit on the counter. Immobile's woeful form up front is continuing too, was the biggest question mark against Italy before the tournament and definitely hasn't proven people wrong.

Southgate's tactics have been right, the slow Italian defence haven't been able to deal with Kane's movement or Sterling's pace. They need to avoid getting too defensive though, after they got ahead against Denmark they sat back and nearly let the Danes back into it. Doing it for too long with a one goal lead can leave you vulnerable to bad luck, you just one thing to go wrong (as Denmark found out). Think another England goal would kill it, Italy don't have the quality up front to come back from a bigger deficit.
