England vs Italy - 10/03/2013

Ashton is such an average player. He was once a good support runner, that's about it. Can't defend, can't pass, doesn't create anything for himself or others....

He's my favourite English player.

As an Italian supporter....

So crowded in the wide channels.
Forwards have been playing better though.

He will have to have an absolute stormer to keep his place against Wales otherwise Lancaster can change his name to PSA.............

Lots of intent and energy but very one dimensional aand there does not seem to be anyone to mix it up.....what about a short kick over the top...quicker ball along the backs? They are so easy to defend and this is evidenced by Manu being so easily tackled.......36 on to replace him must be imminent?

Not really a top game, England unable to finish their changes. Didn't really understand the last penalty as the england player was clearly out of the field of play with 1 foot. Well yeah.

Really?
His distribution, and speed of pass/at the breakdown is head and shoulders above anything Youngs has served up this tournament.

Some of his passing has been poor today and his kicking has also been poor. I don't see it like you I guess.

Care has been better than Youngs. Much faster service.

It's amazing how well Goode did to not score a try there. Don't like him or Ashton. Brown at fullback and two shiny new wingers in the summer please!

I would posiibly go with Burns at about 65 minutes but Care is far better than Youngs, even with his mistakes, to get a fast game................

Englands organisation and finishing hasn't been as clinical as normal, i think flood just doesnt have the same rugby brain farrell has.

Ay?
He was playing advantage, and Parling being in touch meant he brought them back for the penalty elsewhere...

The only person having a worse game than Ashton in this game is George Clancy, he's giving penalties against Italy that I don't think he would against England.

Anyway, England are composed and disciplined as per usual it must be worrying for them that they haven't scored a try yet though.

Italy can't get any phases going. They are so indisciplined at the breakdown.

Surprised that Italy haven't been marched 10 a couple of times. They're running off with the ball every time Clancy blows the whistle, and the quicktap is a big part of Care's game.

Oh dear. Not quite what was wanted.

Am I the only person who just doesn't really see a difference between Care and Youngs? Incredibly similar players in terms of strength and flaws. Maybe I don't know enough about scrum-half play, but I increasingly don't get how people see them as so different.

They're usually throwing it back to the ref though, they can't be penalized for giving him the ball. :p

Why do we not have a back three player to bring on?!
Goode and/or Ashton need to go, but we only have a 10 (who has played some 15) and a 12 (who has played some 10) to choose from.

Would bring on one or both of Burns/Twelvetrees ASAP - just to try and spark something.

Cracking crossfield by Italy though - I do love a cheeky chip to the corner, and that was spot on.

Tom Croft on, maybe put him at 14? :p
