Here's a theory with next to no evidence to back it up. Borthwick is insecure being the top man, so he needs less a proficient team around him to not feel undermined.

England should really go out and get the best defence coach they can.

I guess steve needs all the positive PR he can get, but I really dont see the point in this team today, nothing is being learned other than eddie jones is washed and japan have regressed since their peak years wich has been clear for a fair while. Could of seen some actual differnt things today.

We've been decent but 3 of the tries have still come from mauls and one other was a brilliant bit of individual skill from Sleightholme. Japan are appalling sadly. We've been par but nothing special.
