England Six Nations thread

They normally put out a statement on Tuesday confirming the 23, and then the actual squad on Thursday.

23 does indeed go out tonight, with the starting line up announced Thursday lunch time as normal.

Daily mail reporting Ashton will be dropped from the 23

In fairness as far as papers go Chris Foy usually gets things right

Also reporting May and Nowell will start on the wings

Looks fairly confirmed then. With Yarde and Wade to come back from injury we may have been the last of Ashton, which is no bad thing. Lancaster did say the other week that he had improved his game and form but if even an improving Ashton (in the coaches eyes, not mine) can't hold of Nowell then he's pretty done for.

Yarde was back in training today...

It seems all of a sudden that England have produced an abundance of young wingers! Once Wade and Yarde fully come back we'll have May, Nowell, Watson, Wade, Yarde and Benjamin all under 25, seems quite exciting!

Also didn't realise that Ashton is only 26, thought he was late 20s, seems to have been around for ages!

Wow.

Haha was just about to quote "he's gone !!" Bye bye Ashton I'm gonna stick my neck out and say that's it for him .

Once people lose their place they rarely get it back

Varndell banahan Easter etc

He's going have to do something special to get back in. Yarde and Wade are will be available soon and Watson progressing.

I agree. Ashton would have to do a lot of good to make it past the present EPS wingers, and also has the likes Rokodughuni probably with more favour than he has right now.

So the line-up for the back line will probably be: 10. Farrell, 12. Twelvetrees, 13. Burrell, with 11. May, 14. Nowell and 15. Brown. With 22. Ford and 23. Goode.

This is assuming Barritt is not considered due to lack of game time after returning from injury, and Lancaster prefers his perceived safety choice of Goode over Watson on the bench. Personally I would rather see Watson or Daly in the 23 shirt.

This could mean if Ford comes on for fly-half, Farrell covers 12, Twelvetrees moves out to 13, and Goode is subbed into fullback. England will technically have four recognised fly halves on pitch at the same time. I say technically recognised as opposed to Goode being any good at fly half in reality.

Four fly halves on pitch should certainly make Stuart Lancaster feel safe about a kicking game.

I have a feeling Barritt will be on the bench as a safety net.

However this would mean Goode would cover fly half or 12T would have to play 10 if something happened to Farrell.

I quite like Barritt, but a 22. BB, 23. Goode is arguably the worst in international rugby.

Wow.[/QUOTE

About ****ing time!

No Youngs as well, what a joy to behold!

Reckon Watson and Barritt will be the water boys. Brad isn't versatile enough, even by the current measure of versatility in the England squad ('Can you fit into the wingers shirt? Excellent, you're a winger!').

Am i the only one who would much prefer those two centres for Saturday instead?

Indeed, very strong - if Burns can get his **** together and remember that Kyle can handle a lot of his distribution and the forwards are a little more cohesive then it could be a good game.
Forecast conditions don't look great in Glasgow however.

Conditions were crap in Bordeaux didn't stop roko scoring 2 tries that day ;)

I have zero faith in Burns coming good, but hopefully with Eastmond at 12 it won't matter as much.

Tom Brady is travelling as cover for Rokoduguni as well.
