England Six Nations squad 2022

Yeah I'd be happy with Underhill as long as he's cleared all his recent concussion issues, stick Launchbury in the row and bring Isiekwe back for the bench.

As long as ewels has nothing to do with the squad I'd be happy.

My brother spent nearly £400 on tickets for today's display of low iq.

On Ewels: I do think that the double whammy of a red card and Launchbury returning without issues means Ewels will probably be shuffled back into the shadows after the 6N. Hill was always favoured over him and was looking good before injury, and Lawes just showed he's still a great Lock if the need arises.

So I guess it becomes a question of whether someone can bump him out of the sub spot next week. Is Isiekwe still attached to the squad?

Every time I remember Tom had a brother I get angry. Why the **** isn't he in the squad.

For next week I'd keep Lawes at 6, Dombrant at 8 and stick Ludlum at 7 (his natural position) with Simmonds better off the bench. I actually thought Simmonds did a lot of 'work' today but think that's a better balance overall.

Wouldn't be upset with Simmonds at 7 but Lewis isn't going to be a great impact off the bench compared to Simmonds.

Lawes going well in the row should at least give Jones pause for thought, but realistically Launch will come straight in.

It's going to be important to stick with Fra until the subs start pouring on, if we don't it's game over. That means matching them physically including another huge scrummaging effort and also attacking what looked like a wobbly line out against Wales. Simmonds went well with the unglamorous stuff yesterday so why not give him another shot with the 2 big flankers he's used to at Chiefs?

Perm any 2 flankers from Lawes, Itoje and Isiekwe with other joining Launch in the row. Not balanced, but I'm not sure conventional balance will cut it in in this game. We need to give Fra something to think about so it's not a straight waltz to a GS and I don't think that will come from our backs.

I think I'm joking here (SMILEY ALERT), but actually the more I think about it……. :) :)

It amuses me how permanently angry you are. When it comes to the bigger stuff, I get it, but Ben Curry not being in the squad isn't something to get shouty about.

Right now, he's not selected because Ludlam deserves to be there ahead of him and Underhill is better than he is.

Ben Curry is a very good player, but to some extent, I wonder if his reputation is enhanced simply by being Tom's twin? Even if we discount any lock/flankers from the conversation, I'd argue he's behind at least Tom, Underhill, Ludlam and Willis (assuming he gets back to pre-injury form). Unpopular opinion, but Ludlow is more influential at Premiership level too. How many flankers do you want in the squad?

Will be keeping a close eye on J Willis this afternoon. Haven't really seen much of him since his return, but I guess there's been a fair bit of rust to shake off.

Also his brother who I think has been underrated.

I think I've been a lot worse these past three years or so. The saints and England both doing obvious stupid things and I really so badly just want them to do better and perform as they should.

Actually thinking about it, I've been frustrated with England since Martin Johnson took over coaching. Ever since then they've just basically been under performers.

I don't realistically think we should/ could bin Jones off right now but I definitely think he's run out of ideas and we have just gone backwards since the World Cup. The tactics and selections are just bizarre and I 100% blame Jones for a lot of our poor games and loses.

Either way I've spent the last 4 weeks laying around after surgery being a bit grumpy at home so am probably worse at the moment :D

Why not B Curry? I feel the only reason he's not picked is because Jones doesn't want both in the squad for some reason. He was originally picked ahead of Tom and might be the one with all the caps had he not got injured. Now that Tom is injured, why not pick Ben?

EJ keeping it up his sleeve for RWC.

I agree the bolded section.

I was happy enough for him to stay on after the WC because at the time, I thought 1) 'he's taken us close, maybe he can do better next time' and 2) there wasn't an obvious contender to replace him.

I don't feel that way anymore. I wish he had gone, but hindsight is a wonderful thing …

I still don't think there is an obvious choice to replace him. As I said elsewhere, Scott Robertson is really the only one I'd be genuinely interested in, but even that would be a gamble. I'd also be curious about O'Gara, but I'd be surprised if he wanted the England job.

Hear me out but

Jake White for England coach
Has he been having much success recently?

I doubt Jones did either until a big bag of money was waved in front of his face.

Er I doubt Money was that big a factor for Eddie TBH.

Scott Robertson for me makes no sense.
Hasn't coached outside of New Zealand and he coaches one of the most stacked New Zealand team.
I rate him as a coach but I question how well he could translate outside of New Zealand let alone a NH International role.

It's gonna be Rassie, you know it, I know it, we all, unfortunately, know it
It's the only reason he's doing this redemption arc in the media atm
Yay, we won't even have to put in the effort finding footage to complain about, Rassie & co will do it for us.

That's why I described it as a gamble.

He is one of the most 'in demand' coaches in World rugby though. It's not like a picked a random name out of the hat.

Willis in for Curry,
Thought he had a very average game yesterday but would still bring him onto the bench (hell wouldn't be adverse to starting him) - got to make it through a weeks worth of England training sessions first, though
