Said it before but England have only lost one game with the kamikaze twin flank pairing
Underhill is six and half at best his instinct is tackle and ruck as you would expect of a 6. His turnover work and link up play is quite average as 7. That's the reason why Underhill and curry work as they are different irrespective of what numbers they have on their back as they compliment each other. Underhill hits , curry slows down the ruck or jackels.
England have played their best rugby since 2003 with those two on the flanks and a proper 8 or with Wilson at 6. Again not a lock but a proper flanker
I think Lawes is a super player and has massively increased both his carrying and overall mobility. However he is nearly 33 and for his increased mobility is never going to hit as many rucks as a younger man who is smaller and quicker. With Underhill you get the same if not more physicality but with more speed
How many concussions has Underhill had recently?
That's much worse than I thought - also I thought there was an extended stand down if you had multiple in the same season?4 in 8 months

I remember Sexton having to go through it when he was in Paris
Edit: 4 concussions in 12 months = 3 month stand down,
But I think that might be a France-only thing
The job of a 7 is to tackle and ruck really ?? The job of a 7 has always been to track, and slow down ruck and link play. The job of the 6 is to do the dirty work.Literally describing the job of a 7 not a 6 traditionally.
Blindsides aren't meant to hit every ruck, never have been.
Curry and Underhill worked great till they came across a pack that was bigger.

England's best ever 6 was a proper flanker, in fact if I go through the best 6,7's that have ever played the game surprisingly they are all specialist flankers not a converted lock. Although I do give you PSDT
Re bigger pack So in essence your writing them off based in one game ? A game in which the front 5 were demolished ?
I can recall Lawes playing in some of England's terrible performances over the past two years. They also coincide with Curry playing 8 .
It seems with Eddie if you play Lawes you may also get Curry playing 8 at some point. Which is a nonsense
We may not have lost many games with those combinations, but how many have we won? Definitely feel that Curry and Underhill have a higher win ratio than Lawes and Curry.
Beirne ,Woki & Henderson are all Locks who predominantly play lock. Ireland have a lovely back row balance as the field two specialist flankers and a specialist 8. Injury aside they won't be playing and locks in their backrow for some timeOnly game England have lost with Lawes at 6 and Curry at 8 was France in 2020.
Although I will reiterate I don't like Curry playing at 8 unless it's covering a injury mid game.
In terms of best 6's I think the game has certainly involved in the last 6 or so years.
The likes of Bernie, Woki, Henderson, Ritchie, etc the age of 6ft 2 Blindside flankers generally seem to be going, In fact England's greatest 6 played all his club rugby at 7.
Jermone Kaino is for me one of the best modern 6's but when you look at it was he that much different to Lawes
Not of what you said about Lawes is nonsense. He has a great work rate and does all the 'blind side duties' better than most in the premiership who plays 6.Beirne ,Woki & Henderson are all Locks who predominantly play lock. Kaino to my knowledge never played much at lock, he was a 6
Underhill or long term Willis, if injury freeIf you read what I say I didn't say positions, I was talking about style.
Also Woki is predominantly a flanker.
OK say no to Lawes, who should be England's 6?
20 turnovers WC semi final, the most I have ever seen England produce. Although I do concede that NZ started with a lock at 6 but hauled him off at half timeNot of what you said about Lawes is nonsense. I get you don't like locks at 6 but Lawes plays more 6 than lock for quite a while now. You arnt convincing anyone without some decent stats I'm afraid.
Dombrandt and Curry both in the 26, gotta imagine they're available for selection in that case
