England Six Nations squad 2022

I think Farrell is the only one I'd take back, tbh - I really rate Lancaster but (and I've said this before) don't think his style lends itself to the England job, and Catt is neither here nor there

Edit: Completely forgot about Rowntree, think he'd be an instant boost tbh
I find it difficult to know how much credit to give to Farrell as a coach is he good or simply benefiting from a team which is primarily built on the success/setup of Leinster.

Same. These days Ireland regularly have 12 Leinster players in the starting XV. Beirne, Henderson (when fit) and a winger, probably Conway or Hansen. Carbery is only in the XV if Sexton is unavailable and often half the bench are also from Leinster.

I wouldn't take all the credit away from Farrell who seems to be doing a good job, but it must be a lot easier when you can draw that many from a highly successful club side.

I dont really watch the URC(or what ever it is now) do Ireland play the same brand of rugby? As in systemwise.

Meaning does Faz senior develop a system or just let them play the same way as the are used to playing. If the latter i dont blame him im just curious.

You mean the boring loop around? Yes they do.
Ask @LeinsterMan (NotTigsMan) i think he's an Irish super fan and watches every game. His favourite player is Johnny the cryer Sexton who's favourite song is cry me a tiger.

Short answer, yes. Although often with different personnel. The Irish central contracts mean that a lot of the Ireland players only play in the bigger games.

You can continue on forgetting about Rowntree.

Really do think that Nev could be in line for an intl job at some point in the next few years and probably has his eye on one of the Eng spots

Times this morning reckoning that it could be as few as 4 of the team who started this fixture last year will start - all in the pack. Sinckler, Itoje, Curry and, Mr Consistent, Ewels.

Daly was at FB and if he does start it won't be in that shirt. I'd also guess that Youngs will be reinstated, just because. I reckon that 4 of the bench from that game will also be involved.

Huge attrition in injury, form and coaching whim. FWIW the line up last time was

Mako, LCD, Sincks, Itoje, Ewels, Wilson, Curry, Binny, Youngs, Ford, May, Farrell, Lawrence, Watson, Daly. Bench: Genge, George, Stuart, Hill, Earl, Martin, Robson, Marchant.

Feels like a different era.

No dombrandt I imagine from all the sounds I'm hearing then

Genge, George, Sinks, Ewels, Maro, Lawes, Underhill, Curry it is then

I'd have thought Curry might be a doubt too. Apparently he hasn't passed his RTP protocols yet, so it's possible he'll still be out of contention. Not sure what that would mean? Simmonds at 8?

I'd expect to see Lawes, Curry, Simmonds, tbh
He didn't really do much vs Scotland but Simmonds has started at 8 recently enough for me to think he's ahead of Curry there now

If Curry and Dombrandt are both out then I guess Lawes, Underhill, Simmonds with Isiekwe covering from the bench?

You'd really like to think so…..

Much as I like Isiekwe, I don't see him as a game changer from the bench and especially not as back row cover against good opposition. If Curry and Dombrandt are out you wonder if Jones might be tempted to bring Barbeary onto the bench, just to up the tempo / carrying as the game opens up, even acknowledging that he's far from the finished article yet. A gamble, but predictable and pedestrian isn't going to unlock this Ireland team. Suspect there might be another 6:2 coming our way in any event.

(And yes I know I previously said he shouldn't near the match day squad if his D wasn't right, but he's in the current training squad).

Hate what Eddie has done to our back row. Of all the players he can choose from it looks like we will get a former lock at 6 and an inflated 7 at 8
Pick players in their natural position and let them play to their strengths. I.e don't make a fetching 7 put 10ks on so they can become a poor carrying 8 . Curry is no Pocock and Lawes is no PSDT. We have enough talent without trying to copy and paste what has worked for another nations, without having the personal to do so
