England Six Nations squad 2022

Issue for me is we've not got players who are putting in performances week in week out. Most players are capable of good moments, but the best are consistently good and I feel that many players don't consistently perform to a high level in the premiership, especially compared to the likes of some of the Irish players coming through. Now admittedly that may be because I don't watch the URC and so don't see the poor performances, but I still feel that many players while good, are not consistent enough to be great.

Some fair points here, but Cokanasiga can't be considered as an option when he's not currently playing rugby and hasn't this season. If he were fit, the evidence suggests Eddie would be picking him. He was selected in the summer when others were more deserving.

Thorley hasn't really been in form for for a while. Sleightholme has been fairly anonymous and McConnochie isn't even doing an 'interim job' for Bath ATM so why would we even consider him for England?

Reed and Roebuck have both looked pretty good but aren't obvious test material.

Hassell-Collins, Radwan and Lynagh genuinely are the best options so we're looking in the right places. Odogwu might also come back in to the mix now he's fit.
Lynagh looks to have dropped off a bit recently - not sure if it's second season syndrome, or maybe just tied into Quins general struggles over the last few rounds, but I've not been particularly impressed
I prefer Murley, tbh

Reed/Roebuck are only just showing they're worth starting at prem level - neither should be spoken about at international level (though apparently Scotland have spoken to Roebuck as he was born there, to English parents, before moving to England at a few months old)

Odogwu is the one I'd be most interested in, and also ticks EJ's "swiss army knife" box

Realistically I just want anyone who's a legit winger to get a game - I'm OK with one of the wingers being a centre/fullback, but not both

I'm a big fan of Muir (and McConnochie - though that ship has sailed) - just needs to stop getting himself carded!

Odogwu has been finding some good form in the few games that he has had since back (maybe minus Quins)

But we all know the true man to take on the wing role.... JOSH BASSETT aka. Mr Consistent.

We do have a control, in Currys case, as he has an identical twin who is noticeably slimmer Players being asked to bulk up at international level is nothing new, and considering EJ and Curry are both on record as saying he wanted to improve Curry's carrying I'd be amazed if they hadn't asked him to add a few KG

How heavy is Tom now? I recall reading for Ardie Savea he was down at 99kgs when he first became an AB and the AB coaches wanting to bulk him up at least to 106/107. Same with Sam Cane; who is around the same height as Tom, maybe an inch taller. I think McCaw was around 106kgs when he retired.

England and Sale both have him down as 110kg, and Ben as 105kg

I've heard he's a wizard of a player...

Always take published heights / weights with a huge pinch of salt, but that's the same kind of weight as LCD (111), George (109) and Manu (110). Curry's obviously been in the gym but I'd genuinely be surprised if he's as heavy as those blokes.

110 seems heavier than all the other 6N open sides. I don't mind Curry bulking up, providing it's not to the detriment of what made him so good in the first place.

Different positions with different demands obviously, but also interesting that both Nowell and Manu have deliberately shed quite a chunk of weight (I'm assuming Manu's kept that up post injury).

I'm fed up with all this fixation on weight and bulking up. Iain Balshaw was a good example. Built like a whippet but had a fluid rangey running style that would get him out of trouble and round most people instead of bashing into them.

Told to bulk up, which he did, and promptly lost all his fluency and started to pick up injuries
