Eastmond has to be in the squad imo. He was dropped because he couldn't defend Nonu probably they best 12 in world rugby.

He was dropped because Lancaster picked Ford at 10 for Samoa and Australia and wanted Farrell/36 to babysit him in defence. Fairly sensible at the time; though why he picked Barritt at 13 all through the autumn I'll never know.

Other possibility - Bath want Wilson in the gym correcting what happened in the England conditioning camp and in due time he'll take his place back.

This would be my bet. Marler has taken a while to get back and he seemed the worst affected at the World Cup. Cole took a while too*. I think only Mako and Brookes actually went straight (well, two weeks later) into the Premiership.

Mind you, Wilson has been consistently underused and seemingly overtaken by Brookes. I can't imagine Rowntree would ignore a prop lightly, so perhaps he's as bad as his bench-warming suggests.

*If I recall correctly, Cockerill was fairly vocal about fixing the mess they'd made of Cole.

Re Cole having met him whilst he was playing before the World Cup and after he lost quite a bit of weight during that time.

Sort of like Corbs I guess. Hopefully he picks himself up better than Corbs, Ayerza should provide more help than who Corbs had at TH.

Speaking of Corbs, what do people think about him? Any chance he'll get back to where he was in 2013? I'd say he's one of perhaps 5 current English players to have been world class for a period (JJ, Tuilagi, Cole and Brown being the others).

Wouldn't hold my breath but wouldn't rule it out either.

I'd be amazed if he got back to previous form.
Doesn't seem to be able to string anywhere near enough games together to work on his game, and his game straight back from injury is barely prem level.

Ewers excelled in last week's win over fourth-placed Harlequins, which sent the Chiefs three points clear of Leicester Tigers in third.

And, while England captain Chris Robshaw got many plaudits, Baxter felt Ewers, who many have tipped as a future England player, outshone him.

"Dave had a monumental game," said Baxter. "I know he was coded at 22 tackles, but with assists I coded him at another five or six tackles on top of that - he was getting towards the 30-tackle mark and four or five of them were genuine big, solid stop tackles.

"He certainly carried and made more yards than almost any other player on the field, and when I say yards I mean hard yards.

"It's a bit of strange one for me to see Chris Robshaw bigged up on the TV. I'm not saying he didn't have a good game, he did have a good game, but he wasn't the best back-row forward on the pitch."

Robby Robby Rob.

Aye, Ewers is class.
If Jones doesn't pick him in the EPS then he's mmmmeeeennnntttaaaallll

Agree with what's said here, as good as Hughes is, I'd much rather he play for Fiji than England. I think there's a big difference between playing in a country for x amount of years and becoming eligible and moving to a country in early teens and becoming eligible.

Also the point made about loaning out youngsters to championship is a good one. Would be much better to have an A League run parallel to the Aviva as it would incorporate youngsters into club systems and have them training with higher level coaches more often.

Tbh I'm chuffed Hughes is going to play for England . If he can remain at the level he's at at the moment he will be incredible . Imo he's the best player in Europe right now

A back row of Ewers, Kvesic and Hughes would be unreal

There's no point in England playing the martyr when every other country is doing the same . I don't agree with it but we must simply follow the rules as everyone else does . Also by picking Hughes all we do is force upcoming number 8s to be better than him or at least aim to be .

The higher the benchmark the better it will be for us

**** him.

I hope they change the eligibility rules before November (he's eligible after the summer tours).
Would also love Fiji to turn their nose up to him, say they've got people who put everything into earning a Fiji spot and they don't want someone who would throw away a RWC spot like that, and Hughes never gets to play international rugby.

Don't get me wrong, I love him as a player, but I have zero time for him.
