Goode was great against Ireland, although most on here will pretend he wasn't.

I am not sure I like Vunipola/Morgan both starting, means we have an average player coming off bench at 8 then (Haskell/Easter/Wood).

Goode got dominated in the air against Ireland which imo is something that can't happen if you are playing full back . He spends too much time waiting for the ball he needs to attack it when collecting high balls in the same was as brown does . I wouldn't give him much more than a 4/10 for his part in the game against Ireland to be brutally honest

? Do you not think that perhaps the one who stays on out of BV and Morgan, will simply play at 8, and whoever comes off the bench plays at 6?

Will they be effective though? England demand so much work from their back row, can a player put that shift in and then go to 8?

Goode wasn't kicked at much against Ireland, went after Nowell who had BV stood next to him in 2nd half to help with kicks. Goode was minimum 7/10, he was good ball in hand and beat lots of players.

Goode beat loads of players? Are you joking? What is his rubbish little pretend step before contact?

Goode is just not international quality.

As was said earlier - that was the one notably good thing he did in that game.

Shock horror! A number 8 is positioned to run a kick back, what a terrible indictment of Jack Nowell.

I'm not sure why we're having this argument again, but I am personally convinced that Goode's failure to get us out of our territory effectively was a major reason behind losing to Ireland. Nothing short of rewatching the match will sway me on that, and nothing short of rewatching the entirety of his career will convince me that his career to date is mostly a prolonged argument for never being selected at full-back outside a major injury crisis as he is simply not a good enough athlete for the back three at test level.

This is exactly how I feel too

Agreed he is the worst player we have had under Lancaster and I include Turner Hall in that list. I'm sure he is fine at club level but he has been nothing less than appalling for England

I strongly disagree with this.

Do you not remember Mouritz Botha?

Oh yeah ok that is close tbf! He at least tackled, I can't think of one thing Goode does... But he is close

Think that's harsh. I don't rate him for England but he does give another distributing option. Meanwhile you pass to Tuilagi/Barritt/Burrell you can load defenders onto them as their passing game is much weaker. Often Goode joins the line and changes angle of attack to allow these guys to have a bit more space.

Doesn't mean he is the complete player but that's just one thing he does well. He also has a decent boot on him.

Goode is clearly not an int' fullback. He really is a 10 who got moved after the emergence of Farrell at sarries, he might be a good 10 but he hasn't had nearly enough time there in recent years.

He has a good boot but never uses it to put the ball where it is needed. And he is the opposite to Tuilagi in that you can ignore him in defence to just pass cos he has zero attacking threat...

What Saffycen said, he has looked reasonable when played at 10 for sarries but at fullback really doesn't do a lot

It's weird, though, because for as poor as he is for England he's VERY good for Saracens - one of the top 15s in the country if you go on club form, but just doesn't work at international.

Some players just don't have that extra "level" just the way it is . I agree though he's quality for Sarries over and over again

He just doesn't have the physical attributes of an international fullback.

Anyone else remember when Brenden Venter said he would be fb for a year then they would make him one of the best fly halves. (Not an exact quote) Never happened.

Are you seriously using that clip to say he beat a player? That was terrible fall back positioning, and he nearly cost us a try.

Nothing about that clip was more than shocking

His positioning was fine and he then beat 4 players proving you wrong. BV stood next to Nowell for 2nd half because he struggled with kicks all game.
