Found this interesting, the amount of London Irish out supporting us yesterday was very impressive, they had a bandwagon going with them too. I think the majority of casual supporters will go for Ireland or Wales. FWIW I've always wanted it to be an NH side this World Cup, admittedly though England were the last side in this bracket that I wanted to win.

Really Wales do you really want to deal with their fans after a world cup win? They'll be utterly unbearable!

Me I'm going for Australia (because they've played the best rugby so far) although I'd be very happy with an Ireland

You need to get over this hatred you have for Wales, I for one won't be gloating over Englands exit, there were a lot of your fans pretty unbearable when you won it.

It's prob all the new Zealander posters voting for themselves.

I tried to vote for myself, but it wasn't an option. So I voted for New Zealand. F Yeah.

P.S. I didn't vote, though I do want to see the results :-(

Being non English I can't vote on this, but if Wales had failed to qualify I would be shouting for France, I love French rugby both the top 14 and pro div 2, ever since Richard (Climb Every Mountain) Parkes Ponty's ex openside played out there I have followed them and on the occasions I visited Stade Aimee Giral have received the warmest of welcomes.

If Ireland were out I'd root for whatever home nation or alternatively NH side was still left in the tournament because I'm not a cock meat sandwich.

If the All Blacks don't win I back the team who deliberately cheats the least.

Therefore primarily not Scotland - hollywood Hogg, the no.19 who tried to frame the bokke for a tip tackle by deliberately falling on his head, the guywho held the bokke in the ruck and tehn pleaded that the ref penalise the bokke for not rolling away.

Burger did a similar thing (but successfully) against Samoa. Therefore not South Africa.

Not Samoa because Tuilagi does Hollywoods.

Not Japan because they deliberately go to ground when clearing out rucks in a fashion that makes it look OK (not off their feet, just driving over and lying on the tackled player (who is obligated to roll away, by the way), making it impossible for the opposition to contest possession). At least they are not employing all of the old Eddie Jones tactics, like the killing th ball strategy implemented by Bill Young and Owen Finnegan. I'd quite like Japan to do well, but not win it.

Not Ireland because they clear out defenders adjacent to rucks.

Not England because they lie on the wrong side of the ruck all the time as a deliberate ploy.

I want Australia to do well, but not win it.

If not the ABs, I want the semi finalists to be Wales, Japan, Australia, France, with Wales the victors.

I updated my FaceBook profile picture to be the Rugby World Cup 2015 logo, changing it from my England Rose logo. One friend in particular (not English) lambasted me for this, stating I was abandoning my team and country. I responded by stating my support for England is unfaltering, but my profile picture shows I am looking forward to supporting and enjoying the rest of this amazing competition that is the World Cup.

I also updated my status' to show I would be supporting (in order of preference) Ireland, Australia and France to win and used the respective country logos as pictures too. The same friend (now properly in full righteous mode) continued to berate me for supposedly dropping my support for England, and said "with my hand on my heart I would NEVER have a French, English or Australian badge on my profile picture!" I replied with "It does not change my support or passion for England rugby. It does show that I respect and enjoy rugby cultures outside of my own. To which he responded that is not what he thinks it looks like, and he still thinks I have let my country down.

Obviously, he is being ridiculous, and is a person that loves to have a pop if England do anything negative at all. But I was wondering if anyone else had experienced similar reactions from rugby fans and friends?

BRB some people think a Facebook profile is so important.

Who cares is your pic was a World Cup logo and not rose etc etc.

Your friend sound like he has the mentality of a 13 year old.

Anyone here still on bebo? I had a good article about the future of England on my page bit.ly/aghaW2

What's with all the non-Englanders voting here? Makes the poll rather pointless or at least difficult to read because one has to ignore the majority of the votes!

Its a bad place to be for England supporters I can just imagine but this pool was always gonna claim a big scalp and with Aussie in fine form and poor choices in the Wales match-up from (from players on field but specifically the selections/subs) we see a very good English outfit bow out of the tournament. I'm surprised to find myself sad but there you have it. It adds some drama sure but I think overall it takes someting away from the tournament. For me it feels kinda ant-climatic no matter what happens from here on out. World Rugby really does need to have a good long look at the way these pools are ceded. Good thing it seems they know it.

Anyways, chins up. English rugby is still in a very good position despite the result even if a few things here and there didn't go right its fixable and the main core of your playing squad is surprisingly young still with good depth and good young prospects to come into the frame still. they'll just be more motivated for the next one. Most (all?) major nations have suffered some cruel fates at RWCs.

Haha I will pass on your view, thank you.

I love gatland. Ireland should never have let him go. I'll be following the leeky dragon with much vigour and passion

Gats, Dale McIntosh and your good self have to be the 3 best New Zealanders ever.
Also I like your reasoning Hogg should have walked for that and so should anyone bringing soccer antics into our game.

This right here is why I deleted my Facebook profile a few years back. Everyone who thinks they've earned the right to be more than a casual acquaintance seems to need to butt in on every thought you put on it.

Hahaha, gotta love the kiwis (myself included) voting for NZ. Had to see the results somehow.

I understand the reason behind not voting for NZ though - definitely don't want to be the only team to choke in this RWC. :p

Before the tournament the smart money would of been on New Zealand. After Australia's display on Saturday it has to be said they are strong contenders. The only question I would have is that maybe they were flattered by England going after the win so badly that we were easily taken apart, having said this I don't think many teams can live with pocock. I would love to see France go all the way. I think Ireland & Wales have not impressed enough to think they can go much further in the competition. Wales are littered with injuries and will face a rampant Australia and possibly end up with further casualties. Ireland looked fantastic this year however warm-up games and the Italy game yesterday has left me questioning their ability to beat the southern hemisphere teams/France. All in all it is actually exciting as an England fan now as I can put my feet up and watch and not feel horribly tense about England's chances.
