England EPS 2017/18 edition.

I know i'm biast but gotta say I do disagree with this a little bit...

Taylor is a bit of a difficult one as that position has quality players and he's had a long term injury.

Spencer over Robson in my opinion is ridiculous... Robson has by far been the best and most consistent 9 in the prem this year along with De Klerk & Maybe wigglesworth & white. Your telling me that the second choice Saracens 9 should be ahead of him? the writer is having a laugh.

Evans over Willis ? touch and go .. both quality players but Willis is pulling up more trees in my opinion.

Hughes has been injured for a while but will be surprised if he doesn't go ... lacking bulk If Billy gets injured although Armand is a high quality player to have.

Trinder deserves to be In this squad.

Goode deserves to be in this squad.

may not be most popular opinion but the Robson thing has annoyed me

I think Cips is a great talent, his problem has always been that it seems he's a massive twat off the field.

I think a few years ago I said something along the lines of "if Wade doesn't get tens of caps it'll be a disgrace", and at the time, I think that was absolutely correct.
We had a wing combo of Cueto and Ashton, neither of whom were able to affect the game in any real way, and Ashton in particular was doing a revolving door impression.
There was a period where Wade was by far and away the most exciting English player yet wasn't being picked ahead of limited, woefully out of form players.

Unfortunately, that time has passed... I wouldn't be upset if he was picked by any means, but the case for picking him is nowhere near as strong as it was maybe 3 years ago.
Agree with you there, his defence is stronger but maybe they think his time has gone

Sinckler is increasingly becoming a liability again.
I thought he'd cooled from absolute arsehole to just "player with an edge" but this season he's gone back to his petulant cheap shotting worst. The Boks would have a field day winding him up.

TBF I think a lot of that is down to Quins being an absolute **** show, no real leadership being shown... Marler (who I'm increasingly thinking doesn't have "anger management" issues, he just has trouble giving a ****) is one of his role-models there...

that 36 man squad included mallinder so instant negative reviews from me.

Said it before about Sincks, he needs a new environment. Let Stanko sort him out ;)

I've never thought the problem with his Cips is his alleged off field twattishness. I've always seen it as his unwillingness to commit to contact. Without the ball he's like Mallinder in his commitment to tackling, with it he too often puts mates into trouble rather than taking the contact.

You have to look at the whole, but that's a huge pity as he has far more vision than any other 10 of his generation. When on his game his passing is sublime and he sees things that others just don't. Sure he was headstrong and hyped, but I can't help feeling that good - robust but sensitive - man management early in his career could have made a massive difference. Unfortunately we're looking at an unfulfilled talent.

Just to clarify, but the writer did say Robson is the better option, but that he just doesn't see Jones taking him.

Fair enough, red mist descended by then :D

In my opinion, you have to pick players not only on quality but form. otherwise whats the point... it will be a fascinating squad though

Reports on twitter that Binny has done his hamstring in training today.

If we could just stop injuring players all the time, that would be grand.

Right I've got a bit of time. Imma do a 36 man squad taking into account who I think needs rest, injuries and risks etc. Each position in pecking order.

1. Genge, Hepburn, Obano
2. Cowan-Dickie, Taylor, Singleton
3. Williams, Sinckler, Hill
4. Launchbury, Ewels
5. Isiekwe, Spencer
6. Shields, Armand, Curry( or Ross)
7. Curry, O'Connor, Evans
8. Vunipola, Simmonds
9. Youngs, Robson, Vellacott
10. Ford, Cipriani (has to go, so good)
11. May, Wade
12. Tuilagi, Lozowski
13. Slade, Trinder
14. Cokanasiga, Nowell
15. Woodward, Brown

Standby: marler, Dunn, Cooper-Wooley, Green, Mercer, Spencer, Smith, Redpath, Francis, Earle, Mallins

Sorry... no Smith no likey

Simple really. Ford and Cipriani are better than him and could both easily play WC and next couple of six nations. Smiths time will come. He should be in under 20's IMO.

Lozowski is also a better 10 than Smith right now.

I've included Mallins as he's more versatile.

Ok.. Couple of issues with that...
1. Smith is better than Lozowski at 10. hands down, no argument. Never been particularly impressed with Lozowski in an England Shirt especially.
2. Cips is 30 so has very little future with England and it's time we all move on.
3. Cips is also likely to be off to France (or Ulster) apparently, so again no England future
4. Smith is a better defender than Ford ie. He makes massive hits for his size and doesn't have to rely on other players to cover him

Not saying Smith should start, but taking Cips over him would be like taking Banahan over Cokanasiga (even that would make more sense).

Sorry, but rereading this, I'm disagreeing more and more

Wade has been rejected by multiple England coaches now and it's fairly clear that he has no international future despite his age so take someone who might (Woodburn, Lewington, Earle, Ibitoye etc.)

Also a bit of an issue with that font row - Imagine the guffawing SA dressing room if their pack comes up against an Obano - Singleton - Hill front row...

Having all your flankers with a total of about 6 caps is just stupid tbh... Why risk it, and against SA too

Care has the third most assists in the Prem in an awful team... has to go

Take Mercer at 8 and shift Simmonds into the flank for a Curry...
