England EPS 2016/17 season.

Exactly, it's actually really hard to do much more than put your weight in - there's not a great deal of pushing you can do, because you just slide off the guys ass.

I'll get you some scrummaging lessons from a mate of mine. His name is Johnny May.

Ha.

Whilst we're talking about players moving across the back row, it's interesting to note how much more effective Harrison has been for Saints since switching back to 8.

It does seem to be where he performs best. Last year he spent pretty much the whole season there and he was phenomenal. I don't see how he can go from being such a physical force in the AP to being dominated in internationals. I know he's bound not to be as impressive, but the difference is so drastic there must be another reason to it than simply a better opposition. If only he was bigger he could be a genuine contender for England 8.

Re: Harrison, that also seemed very apparent in last nights game too.

So, to include the points made earlier about back row positions being moveable without too much change. If the flank role as per Eddie is to dominate, rather than the more intricate jackal opportunity spotter. (Please add tongue in cheek and Hask TM where required please).

And Harrison is so much more effective from the base and not from flank, could England start Harrison at 8 and have two dominators on both flanks to set the balance always talked about?

Re: Harrison, there are a couple of things to understand. Harrison is a 7, he plays much better when he is playing at 7. That's because he's better in the loose. When he played for England, he was dominated by the opposition when running into heavy traffic. That's the same when he plays for us, If he runs into traffic he gets smashed.

He's great games for the saints have nearly all been at 7. When's he's played 8 he's not looked as good. I watch him week in week out.

I don't think he's physical enough for England yet in general.

I watched him all of last season and this, I'm gonna disagree and say his best games were at 8.

Harrison might work at 8 with Haskell and Williams either side. But I don't rate him that much with other things he does. In fairness hardly watched his club rugby and unfortunately for him I only ever saw crushing defeats. Can't base too much on that.

I just saw the name Alex Lozowski in the sports news, is he a chance of making the England XV? Never heard of him before and just checked out some youtube stuff, looks good. Remind me a bit of Danny Cipriani.

No real chance of XV (apart from maybe Italy) but could be an outside bet for the 22 shirt.

I kind of leaves saracens in an odd place having both their 10s called up. I wonder if one of them will permanently move position or if Alex looks for a new club.

If Eddie is fine with it now I can't see either moving for a while. Unless another 10 emerges elsewhere and hat forces loz's hand.

The fact Faz can play 12 and Loz can play 15 helps.

Could see a bench of
21) Care
22) Loz
23) Daly

I'd be mildly surprised if Lozowski beat out Slade/Daly/Te'o/Watson/Yarde for the bench. They are more established and have real levels of experience in positions outside 10 rather than the "Well he's got most of the attributes and has played it once or twice". My guess is he's there for the experience and gets his crack in the summer.

Daly can cover 11, 13 and 14 comfortably, and 15 reasonably, and 12 a bit. I'd rather us have a dedicated fullback or 12 on the bench, rather than just another guy who might be able to do a job there.

A dedicated 12 would seem most useful with two fly halves starting.

Have any of the current wingers been trusted to cover 15 before- Watson played there against Italy last 6Ns didn't he? Jones hasn't switched any of them back for the experience that I can think of.

with loz playing 15 in the last game I think saracens would want to keep them both knowing that they can keep both on the field, with either one at 10

which means they either plan on moving on from goode quickly or are expecting barritt or bosch to quickly decline

Isn't Goode supposed to be off to France?

As for the England bench, I'd put Robson and Daly there, and go for a 6:2 split

i know ashton is going to toulon, cause apparently the way to fix your tight five being complete ass is to sign another winger

but i haven't heard anything about goode
