England 2024/25

'George Martin, Manu Tuilagi, Anthony Watson, Raffi Quirke and Jack van Poortvliet have all been named as part of the squad but on a 'rehabilitation list'.

It's likely these players would come under serious consideration for squad selection if and when they regain the fitness needed to train with the wider group.'

Says the Telegraph.

Mad,
Martin the only one who's earned that spot - mmmmaaaayyyybbbbeeee Watson, from credit in the bank, but he's up there with Manu as ultimate sicknote

I disagree actually, part of me now thinking that CCS may be there as a "lock style 6" option, despite him not actually being a lock
I'm thinking we see Roots start at 6 this tournament. Borthwick's talked about him a lot in the build up and he seems right up his alley. A big body who hits **** tons of rucks and makes **** tons of tackles.

Not at all what I would do but I think it's what we'll see.

I don't think it's that big of a deal tbh. Clubs don't really mind giving up injured players so might as well bring in anyone on the periphery. It doesn't mean they're guaranteed squad places when fit.

Or perhaps he'll just swap out a vindaloo for a madras to repeat the bronze match Curry, Underhill, Earl?

'On omissions of Kyle Sinkler and Billy Vunipola: "I spoke to both players regularly about what I'd like to see develop in their games to be in the squad. But it's so competitive. Will Stuart has been excellent for Bath; Joe Heyes has shown a real development in his game this season; and Dan Cole – it's important to recognise his impact.
"This time last year, England's scrum was ranked 10th in the world and it's now a good number of places higher. He has influenced that. I'm pretty sure Kyle will be in the squad in the future. I sensed determination from him to work on the areas we discussed." '

Position breakdown:
LP: Genge, Marler, Obano
HK: Cowan-Dickie, Dan, George
TP: Cole, Heyes, Stuart
LK: Chessum, Coles Isiekwe, Itoje
FL: Curry, Earl, Pearson, Roots, Underhill
N8: Cunningham-South, Dombrandt
SH: Care, Mitchell, Spencer
FH: Ford, F. Smith, M. Smith
IC: N/A
OC: Beard, Dingwall, Lawrence, Slade
WG: Daly, Feyi-Waboso, Freeman, Roebuck
FB: Furbank, Steward

Genge George(C) THP(dont care)
Itoje Chessum
Underhill Dombrandt Earl
Mitchell MSmith
Lawrence Slade
Daly Steward Freeman

Dan
Obano
THP (all as boring as each other)
Coles
Pearson
Care
FSmith / Furbank
Feyi-Waboso/ Roebuck

Thats the team i can see playing vs Italy.

Never have been a huge fan of Isiekwe, very good works hard but idk. Roots and CCS will need to bed into the side.

Roots CCS Underhill would be a bloody physical back row though. Shane no Martin because add Martin into the second row takes it up another notch.

'

Right decision for Owen and his family'

On having spoken with Owen Farrell: "I spoke with Owen yesterday and what's important here is that Owen makes a decision that is right for Owen and his family. Will a player of his calibre be missed if he goes? Yes, of course. Would I want him in the future to come back? Yes." '

Wonder if he can only make so many EPS changes so he keeps these in the squad and changes them on injury grounds allowing more freedom to pick HIS squad from scratch.

Just a thought but i wouldnt be surprised of hes just playing the system. Especially if he knows some wont be back in time.

Pretty sure that after the RWC they're allowed to start the EPS from scratch.

'Do I think he will feature soon? Yes'

On Alfie Barbeary: "I rate Alfie very highly. I have said that to him. We met a few weeks ago in a health-food café in Bath. We had a good chat. I spoke to him yesterday and we have been in regular contact. Is the disciplinary hearing a factor? Yes, there's no doubt about it because I want certainty. Do I think he's going to feature in an England team in the near future? Yes."
