England 2021/22

OK fine. Anyway … what's the general verdict on 'business to be done'?

Quite a lot of clubs have now announced their leavers now and while there will definitely be some players who haven't got contracts yet, I suspect there's a fair few moves yet to be announced.
We have one signing to be announced BPM, and no more contract renweals...so we're pretty much done.

Only 5 signings, lots released and a HOST of academy lads promoted to the 1st team and the Senior Academy is bulging again aswell.

Academy is the way forward for us.

Based upon the current squad, I'd go with:

1. Rodd
2. McGuigan
3. Alo
4. J. Hill
5. Clarke
6. T. Hill
7. Underhill (c)
8. Barbeary
9. Randall
10. Bailey
11. Hassell-Collins
12. M. Atkinson
13. Odogwu*
14. Radwan
15. Arundell

16. Blamire 17. Goodrick-Clarke 18. Schickerling 19. Ewels 20. Pearson 21. Robson 22. C. Atkinson 23. W. Joseph

*I went for Odogwu over Joseph mostly on experience but generally I would only really consider him a winger at test level
Glad you picked Odogwu at 13. Thats something ive wanted to see for ages. He's no Manu...but he offers a more power route than Marchant etc so offers nice variety.

Marchant is still the starting 13 for me mind when every one is available.

Thats quite a back 3...

Yeah, could be a fun side to watch but the Barbarians side looks like it will be very good so we'll definitely want some reinforcements from the losing semi finalists.

Saw him call out the posh side of rugby and it hampering the game growth.

I agree but very funny considering he plays for quins of all teams

9. Randall
10. Bailey
11. Hassell-Collins
12. M. Atkinson
13. Odogwu*
14. Radwan
15. Arundell

16. Blamire 17. Goodrick-Clarke 18. Schickerling 19. Ewels 20. Pearson 21. Robson 22. C. Atkinson 23. W. Joseph

Following yesterday's results, I'd revise the team as follows:

1. Rodd
2. McGuigan
3. Collier
4. J. Hill
5. Tizard
6. T. Hill
7. Underhill (c)
8. Dombrandt
9. Mitchell
10. Smith
11. Murley
12. Dingwall
13. Marchant
14. Radwan
15. Freeman

16. Blamire 17. Goodrick-Clarke 18. Alo 19. Ewels 20. Pearson 21. Robson 22. O. Bailey 23. Arundell

I can see an argument for leaving the more established players out. However, it's going to be a strong Barbarians side so I think we need to take it seriously.

IMO, Mitchell is more deserving of the starting 9 shirt and I'd like us to invest time in developing a 8, 9, 10 axis with him, Dombrandt and Smith.

I know there's a lot of hype around Arundell, but Freeman deserves a good run out and I think a low pressure cameo from the bench is best for Arundell at this point in time.

I'm not sure how many players from yesterday will be involved, if any - I don't think they have in the past

I dont disagree with your squad but why not JWillis? He's in the squad right and arguably deserving of a place, also a good game to get him in the 7 shirt having a real fetcher without risking Curry. Id say he's ahead of Pearson at least.

How much has Freeman played 15? After watching him more recently ill take back thats he's nothing special as i think he is better than i thought he was

Ewels 🤮 (yes I will use this every time someone puts him in a squad or team)

It's purely because I think this might be Hill's best crack at a start. Willis will almost certainly go to Australia (or at least should).

Id go 6 Underhill 7 Willis 8 Dombrandt 20 THill. Or hill for underhill him at 6.

I'm not as against it as I could be tbh,
I wouldn't be surprised if Youngs doesn't tour this summer, for personal reasons,
Mitchell playing poorly, Quirke injured,

If Care is going to still be playing next summer (and he almost definitely will be) then why not see if he can still hang at international level?
Not like Randall set the world on fire

This close to a world cup building for the future doesn't really matter - we've one season of EJ left so it's just whoever's the best option right now
