EA Rugby 2008 Discussion Thread

Yes. Thats all I can say.

They've definitely worked on the textures and what I wonder now is will the in-game shot reflect this level of visual majesty.

Thats my only concern......

Would anyone care to tell me why they have not made a Rugby 07 I appear to be pretty uninformed on the situation. Why'd they skip it? When's 08 out?

The upcoming game will be on next gen (really current gen now) formats and this is going to require additional development time.

So, with the ***le coming out in November (estimated time only) then there'd be little point in calling it Rugby '07.

Well...I suspect that's not a real time shot. But still. Looks crisp.

And, seriously, it looks better than R2004.

i remember when they had the training day for R2006 at homebush stadium in sydney

we found the head EA Marketing Australia's LAPTOP in the carpark

took it home, and went thru it vigourisly - the bag - his laptop was locked!!

emailed him the next day telling him we found it, and he was going to give us his house if we returned it - well he was very grateful and said what do we want.

We said we want early ps2 copies of R2006
Didnt happen
We got Tiger Woods 2006, Madden, NBA, Need for Speed n other EA stuff

But that tells me whilst EA Australia might only do distribution, the people that work there can get there hands on anything in the pipeline

In his laptop bag, he had DVD's of presentations of EA's upcoming PSP ***les which werent even public knowledge at the time.

We new what Most Wanted entailed before it was even called NFS Most Wanted - we knew it was ****, and just wanted Rugby

lol ak 47 classic stuff. yeah pretty much ea aus as a dev company were shutdown after v8 challenge and one of the first rugby game they made. ( I used to moderate the ea rugby forum back in those days) the ea devs that were on v8 challenge basically vanished soon after release and then not long after ea brought all the forums down.

i was looking forward to seeing that screen, but u tricked me, i feel stupid, like somebody who supports wales

Surely you didn't feel that bad.

I'm thinking that we will hear first real details of this ***le about August. What you guys think?

hey guys i was thinking..wouldnt it be awsome if the next game had a better feel to it..ie reserves on the side line , refs touch judges, cheerleders etc. TMO etc. i hope that some of that makes it into the game to make you feel like a real game. if thats possible!

That pic is as creative as the current Welsh backs!

I think we will have info before then.

My guess would be around the time the adverts for the world cup start kicking in

yeah they would want to hype it up a bit before the world cup I think. so might see some info a few months before the world cup and then see it ramped up during the world cup with the release shortly after it.

I won't be surprised if have EA Rugby 08 coming soon on advertising hoarding during the world cup. Another possibility is an advert they could release during the world cup.

I totally don't get why they'd want to release it AFTER the world cup. By releasing it just prior to world cup is the way to go because at the stage many nations will have faith in their team to take it out no matter how misguided it may be. However after the all blacks take them all to school and all the 6 nations fans suddenly realise just how average rugby is up their way they will no longer want to buy the ruggers game. :p
I say release beforehand and if by some miracle an NH team wins then its still a win win situation for EA as sales will continue to be strong and crap markets like NZ where games sales don't matter so much will only be a minor hit.

Yeah I'd agree with that. I'm sure EA Sports would start advertising R2008 during the world cup because everyone will be hyped up, wanting their own piece of the action.

I remember during world cup 2003, i told my parents i wanted R2004 because i just wanted to have a crack at winning the world cup after we were robbed.

Also whilst watching the 06/07 ashes series i decided i wanted more of the action on the computer, so i got Cricket 2007.

It's just human nature. We see something, so we want to mimic/re-enact it. Therefore advertising during RWC2007 would be the best move to gain exposure for EA R2008.
