[COVID-19] General Discussion

Just done the weekly shop and people are just taking the **** now.
Queue outside was fine but inside was bedlam, people just acting like nothing is wrong.
Considering the elderly are most at risk they wouldn't know social distancing if it punched them in the face - something I strongly considered doing to one old **** who was breathing over my shoulder when I was getting something off the shelf.
Then the queue for the tills was bumper to bumper, no gaps at all.

You can absolutely bet the EU will demand access to the pertinent source code.
They claim that the one the UK Government is making will be open source once finished
Python isn't my strong point but I'll definitely be having a mooch through the repo

The same ECHR that would investigate the UK government if there was suspected breaches.

Eh, yeah.

Like that'll ever happen with Brexit and the folks most likely to benefit in charge, Cummings & Johnson.

Boris claims lots of things. Some of them even end up being half true.

I know python reasonably, or at least, the small fraction of it that I use regularly I know! But it'd be a massive task to run through every line and make sure there are no easter eggs in there. Well beyond my capabilities in terms of abilities never mind time.

Aye same,
There'll definitely be people out there who pick it apart line by line though

If one rugby club in the world was going to get caught flouting social distancing rules, which do you think it would be?

Go on guess.

Yes, that's right. It was Saracens

Bet the public relations team are glad they took this job...
Late night boozing with Te'o, supporting Folau and now illicit coffee. Binny's not really shaping up like the sharpest tool in the box.

And the bunny ears, and the ferry dive. I think there's a pattern emerging!

Don't worry RedruthRFC

Lol. To be fair, I'm woke enough that I would have thought badly about someone else who did what I did. I had a feeling I was getting mixed up, so Googled both, but didn't read the results properly, so thought that it confirmed that those incidents were Vunipola (not helped by the fact I used his name in the search).

Glad you haven't set me to ignore - I plan on picking your brain extensively on the booze thread - lockdown is broadening my beer tastes.

Yay, they've released one of the SAGE reports.
It makes for fascinating reading, and show that the scientific community was so impressively of one mind.

Don't worry, it was only a full third of the document that was 100% redacted

In other news the U.K government has announced a 14 day quarantine for all flight passenger arrivals from anywhere other than the Republic of Ireland. However not until the end of the month...

It's made even more ridiculous by the fact that when Italy had it's first cases and Lombardy in particular was a hot zone, the government did absolutely nothing and people arriving on flights from Milan were able to walk through the airport with absolutely no checks or quarantine.

The comparison to how those brought back from Wuhan were treated in the early days of this is mind boggling.

They should just have a policy of testing passengers as soon as they get off and make it compulsory for them to download the contract tracing app and log their details and if they don't fine them/deport them as the punishment. No one will want to travel to the UK otherwise and it'll kill the tourism industry. Pretty much what South Korea are doing.

"Government and aviation sources told BBC News that the quarantine would mean people might be expected to provide an address when they arrive at the border."

Sounds like a pretty soft quarantine to me. Surely testing all people (including Brits) on arrival is the way to go. Passenger numbers are way down. I read somewhere that BA's passenger numbers are 1% of what they normally are and much of that will be domestic travel within the UK.
