Here'some nice and catchy guitar...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2BCoZiSbGtY

You'll notice the offbeat hand clapping which is already out of reach of any western mainstream "artist"...
Btw, the best guitar player wasn't black, or even american, he was probably an unknown spanish gipsy...[/b]
No comment. 10/10.

More evidence for your case, Charles - Spanish/French? guitar + clapping:

I think they're from the Camargue.

I like the sound, nice upbeat song, no idea what it is about though.

7/10

Now for a bit of a change, a sad and happy song rolled into one, make sure you listen to the whole song too and don't just rate the first 4 minutes or something

Venice Queen

8/10. My favourite off By the Way although I don't rate the Chilis live.

IAMX - This Will Make You Love Again

My favourite track at the moment.

7/10. Decent for a ballad.

Ok this isn't so much a song as an album condensed into 5 minutes... combining hiphop, grime, dubstep, bhangra, reggae... basically all of the sounds of east London.

Perhaps a tad over-ambitious, but not bad: 7/10.

Here's a classic Young tune played by the great French guitarist:

That's ok.

Neil Young good. Guitar good. But Hard Rock Cafe pub-band vibe? Nah.

5/10.

Let's hear it for the genius of Elvis:

6/10. Although I do agree Chelsea is a next place... the aptly named World's End estate and half of the prick-infested King's Road compliment Stamford Bridge perfectly. Fulham's much better.

-5/10. For fooks sake!

The only time I will ever listen to a Metallica song...

gets 5 for being funny. like the original better ;)

Mavado - I'm On The Rock

Can I give that less than -5 :p

4/10 - nothing fresh about it. Actually smells of bedroom socks.

From someone I knew a long time ago:

Bit atmospheric, maybe the sort of thing you play for tribute videos or playing quietly at dinner parties. That said, still pretty good. 7/10

sounds vaguely Cure-ish, which is always a good thing. i like this. 8/10.

I saw DJ premier last night, for those of you who don't know he's one of the greatest hiphop producers in history... anyway I'm cheating and posting 2 of my fav. Premo cuts:

Well ... don't like either of these. 3/10.

Music moves from one level to the next, on to the climax. Both these raps are just relentless. And I want a song to show its theme through the chorus, but I don't want the rest of the lyrics to lecture me.

No variation. No music. No talent.

no, you are in no position to define 'music'; it's such a personal thing that you can't say what it is and isn't. you're free to say that you don't like the songs but to say 'no talent' makes you sound at best ignorant.

anyway, 6/10.. not my scene but still good fun.

ok, sorry I feel to bore you with some more hiphop. But to me this song really illustrates why Eminem (in the Slim Shady era) was among the all-time greats. Tell me you've heard a funnier story told with as much clever lyricism and I'll go out and pay for that record.

Naah - I'm right, you're wrong. Music isn't personal, it's universal. We don't define it, it defines itself - and we spend a lot of time messing it up.

Eminem is good. 7/10. American Psycho.

But this is the funniest, and with better lyrics - plus you don't have to pay for the record:

5/10. right there with funky koe modena and wild thang.

Ok picture yourself having my afternoon: jamming on the grass with a few cans and a few mates in the sunshine with lovely songs such as this blaring out the speakers and plenty BBQ munch from the stalls by the river for the boat race. I haven't had an afternoon like this since september and I can't wait for summer now!!!

Really like the melody but the vocals ruin it for me, not a fan of that style singing. 6/10.

This little guy is only 12 if I'm not mistaken, such a great cover of All Along the Watchtower;

didn't really rate the version, but his playing is good. 5/10.
