many people may not like this on principle, but try and 'feel' the guitars and drums driving the song forward:Burzum - My Journey To The Stars[/b]
Ginger, sorry for the insult on the euthansia thread. Arse talk. Won't do it again.

Never heard of Burzum. The g&d are ok, but the singer is a demon - must be using some studio effect.

7/10.

Completely different - this song doesn't mention THE WAR a single time, it's about something more. What does "I won't be long" mean? Coming or going?

I love Pink Floyd's "Bring the boy's back home" and had never heard Vera Lynn sing until now. Not really my cup of tea but it's a good song so 7/10.

One of my favourite anti-war movement songs by Buffalo Springfield; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30W3iRL48gQ

And where the hell is everyone? Apart from shtove, ginger and I this place is deserted, come on people!

ooh very good, definatly high 9's out of ten.

on the anti war theme though...
Bruce Springsteens cover of Edwin Starr's - War

4/10 - it's not his song, and I don't believe him.

Bruce was trying to copy this lot, from a couple of years earlier:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T1CCMqm1EBg

Is the theme anti-war? Doesn't war defeat evil? Not even sometimes? Does anything defeat evil?

Ah, Glasshoppa, there no such thing as evil.

Oh yes there is.

Oh no there isn't.

Not bad, but not really original, 6/10.

Check this out: it's a song by Les Inconnus, a comic trio of the 80/90's...

The lyrics are awesome.

:D Only in France!

But what's with the agricultural stuff? A bit Monty Python. 7/10.

I was going to find some genuine pretentious lyrics, but they're a bore.

Here's a parody from Weird Al - not a fan of his, but I really enjoy this one (you've probably seen it - 19 million views!):

I find his parodies quite funny in general and also clever... although he loses marks for people who sing his lyrics. It just sounds all wrong. Like singing a song they play on a comedy show. Eugh. 6/10.

Roots Manuva - Movements

There's something about Roderick's voice that makes this track sound awesome.. he has the preacher-like quality, same as Obama...

Quite enjoyed that, have heard bugger all Roots Manuva. If this song is anything to judge him by I'll definitely look into him a bit more. Very cruisy beat, 8/10.

Oh my god, just saw The James Gang on Rock101 tonight and this gem came up; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1yiCyCvW4g

Gave me multiple orgasms, Joe Walsh is king!

7/10. I did like the Bolero guitar solo in the middle.

A classic from the early/mid 90's New York gritty hiphop scene. Havoc (of Mobb Deep) and RZA (of Wu-Tang) produced tracks with simplistic, dark and gritty beats. Mobb Deep sound that bit harder cos of Prodigy's calmly threatening voice and delivery. This track opens with one of the most famous lines in hiphop too...

What line is that?

Definitely pre-bling. We're heading for post-bling, so I wonder if this style will come back. It's OK - not a lot of life there - 6/10. Social rap can be a bit school-marmish, despite all the in your face stuff.

Eurovision gave us ABBA, Riverdance, Celine Dion and ... My Lovely Horse. But this as well (give it 49 secs):

Italian Frank Sinatra!.... hang on, sinatra's an italian name... o well of it's type 5/10.

Ok, whether or not you like this song please watch the video and listen to the lyrics. JME is one of the most unique MCs out there. He is awesome at BMX and Rubix cube, and picks topics to chat about that no one else even thinks about.

No, you're thinking Dean Martin. That is an amazing chorus - to fly, to sing.

I likes it, not sure why. The only lyrics I could get were about KFC and chips - deep! Video is very improving. 7/10.

Not a fan of Sinatra. I first heard this one in the Simpsons - Martin stands butt naked wondering how his pool party went so wrong. The lyrics aren't great, but it's all about summer love and loss:

I don't mind listening to the old crooners every now and then, real nice jazzy flow to it all. Not a huge fan of Sinatra, this is the very first time I have heard this song and it didn't exactly blow me away. I'll still give it a solid 6/10, I like the jazzy feel to it.

Listen to these very powerful lyrics by the great Aussie band Midnight Oil, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XWjTXQutf4...feature=related

definatly 10/10. classic song, they are a great band, this song and king of the mountain. great choice.

heres a classic from way back
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8AI95BVkiW0[/b]

Never ever heard that before in my life, kind of like a female version of Nirvana. Enjoyed the guitar solo, 7.5/10 for something I have never heard before.

Here's one from Joe Walsh (who by himself is 50 times more talented than The Eagles, even though a he's part of what made them so successful); http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2rxPSDUlvk

Hey! Why the ***** didn't anyone rate my song?!?!?!?! Oh well....
And yes, Nickelback are pants. I'm surprised you gave it a 4 gg, I'm going to re-rate it as a 1 if you don't mind.

I only listen to rap (or reggae in this case) when I feel like listening to deep lyrics, such as Mobb Deep and Nas. I can't even make out what this guy is saying (some kind of diss to another rasta?) so it doesn't really appeal to me. 4/10.

I know shtove's heard this one, it's weird to say the least.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExyRMqX8eOA
