7/10. skilful playing

Emmanuel Jal - Warchild[/b]

Not bad, better than the other crap put out in the same genre. 6/10.

King Crimson - Epitaph; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XScR9QR0gGQ

7/10. nice

This chick's voice is so hot it makes me want to stick my dick in the speaker.

Hmmm. The voice doesn't do much singing, but yeah I hear what you mean. Guess when you say "the speaker" you mean "her mouth"?

6/10. I dunno - drumnbass always reminds me of this:

Anyway, here's a really sexy voice:

Betchadupa, Drop D, from their album, The Alphabetchadupa

Good band. But I can't tell what they're singing about - hate or love?

Are you the blond in the front row giving out blow jobs?

7/10.

Remember Bjork's It's All So Quiet? Somebody did it better ... 66 years ago, and with a better ***le: Blow A Fuse ...

8/10. Like the schizophrenia.[/b]

Ah, young love. I only came across this version a few days ago - the singer became a drunk, screwed her career, married four times, went bankrupt, and finally turned to Jesus. She died last year. That's rock and/or roll.

This just came up on my itunes, haven't listened to it for TIME but it's mad sick:
Royce Da 5'9" - Boom[/b]
Smooth, but does the song have anything to do with the video? Black dude gets crushed by the Man - a bit tired. Justice finally got OJ this weekend!

6/10.

Drunk classic, just a clip - the whole thing repeats anyway, so you don't need the rest. Here's to the boys:

 Classic! Not too fond of that song but given the situation in that video it's gotta be a 10.

Tales of Brave Ulysses is probably my favourite Cream song of all time; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8hLc_nqx8g

Love the way Clapton uses the wah pedal in this one.[/b]

9/10. I preferred Disraeli Gears to the other more bluesy stuff but still, a sick band.

Great story, some old lyrics too:
Fairport Convention - Matty Groves

Never heard that before.

Pretty good - 7/10.

Reminded me of June Tabor, and I was going to link one of her songs - but she's sooooooo depressing. By an amazing sequence of youtube searches I arrived here instead - 2 minutes from one of the great albums, Swordfishtrombone:

6/10. Tom Waits is a weird cat most of the time, have you ever listened to "God's Away on Business" by him? Bloody freaky.

Not a massive fan of the Alan Parsons Project, but Sirius/Eye in the Sky is a pretty cool song; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bMAGwMAXTpU

9/10 for the buildup, 5/10 for the rest of the song.

5/10. Not my cup of tea...

With the winter slowly coming upon us, a little bit of sunny vibes coming from Africa...

Embeds don't carry over?

First one is lovely. But it goes on a bit. 8/10

The Jamaican one nice and laid back. Is that a fleur de lys in the background? 7/10

I was looking for something from Africa, but came up with Mandinka instead of Mandingo (have I completely screwed that up?):

That's ok, you have to be in a ... certain mood. 7/10

O'Connor tried a banshee version of the Gershwin song My Man's Gone Now - there's a studio documentary of her constantly getting it wrong under Larry Adler's production, big pressure on her from a great musician, kind of humiliating.

Not a top singer, but she did come through with a spine chilling performance. Tough at the top!

Can't find it on t'intertubes, so here's a Nina Simone version - just superb:

7/10. Great voice as usual from nina.

Anyway, a lot of African music you hear nowadays is characterised by that jumpy, fast guitar... that's all derived from Congolese soukous music. Orchestra Baobab fused that with their own traditional Wolof griot music, and also with Cuban influences from Senegal's afro-cuban scene.

These guys are just ... great. Wait for the vocals. There doesn't seem to be a crowd:

2/10. **** musicianship and singing apart from anything else.

many people may not like this on principle, but try and 'feel' the guitars and drums driving the song forward:Burzum - My Journey To The Stars
