Clerc, The Best Wing Around?

<div class='quotemain'>
Clerc is also physical. You obviously haven't seen a lot of him I think. Second try vs Ireland in RWC he just pushes off TWO players to score after catching the ball. He's also got a superb hand-off ( check his try against leicester in HCup.). and he keeps the momentum going after the contact . Best finisher and winger in NH (and from a NH country) right now.

Yes but thats Ireland, i mean really they struggle to stay in the top 7 or 8 in the world
Vincent is an excellent finisher whoever the oponents are. Having said that it is difficult to say that he is the best at the wing there are other players that can apply for this ***le for sure.

Vincent Clerc is an unreal wing but the folowing wingrs arer as good or better.

Rokoko Doug Howlet Sivivatu Shane Horgan (obviously not on current form) the fijian Delisail (any one watched fijis matches in the world cup or wasp v clermont) Tom varndel paul sacky and vainikolo. Im sure iv propably missed out on one or two more aswell. Now here comes the part wher every one says im a stupid fool

'Unreal' is a bit over the top there dude.

That would put the players you listed below in the supernatural category lol

You can't take it seriously when anyone says Varndell is good, can you?

Well Rokocoko just had a stormer on both attack and defense, saving a try to setting one up within the space of a minute and then scored a blinder. 1st game in 4 months and he already looks too good for most teams to handle.

I think this Clerc "best in the world" thing was just a knee jerk reaction eh? Still waiting for Habana to wind up...

<div class='quotemain'>
<div class='quotemain'> <div class='quotemain'> :lol:

Not much I can say about that.
I still maintain he is one of the best wingers in Europe and up there with the best in the world.
If we're all going on stats then Shane Williams on 37 tries in 52 matches (i think) that puts him on pretty good stats considering the team he plays for has - for a majority of the time - been losing or being on the backfoot a lot in those games.

I was just criticising you for flat out saying "no" without backing it up with an arguement.
I was hoping by playing the 'SH Favouritism' Card it would in some way encourage you to argue your case...not bring up Shane Williams.

It's a flat out no because the topic creator was firing his load over performances against Scotland and Ireland? There's not a case to argue, I could dig up performances where Caleb Ralph had scored hat-tricks against 6 Nations teams (Think it was either your rabble or the Italians), does that mean he can be in the same conversation as the big guns at the moment.

I wouldn't fear him, just like I never feared Shane Williams, neither would any other All Black or South African fan. Until I see them do damage against the incumbent best wings in the world, there's no claim to make.
:bravo:

Just don't compare Clerc to Shane Williams, he's way stronger. And watch that :

It's one of Clerc's last games against a southern nation, as he didn't play the last tour against the ABs. That last handoff is enough proof for me. So the South African fans who shouldn't fear Clerc are approximately one year old.

Yes but you obviously dont know that this is the springbok team that went on to lose 49-0 to Australia. They were playing truly sh** rugby for the first half of the season and only marginally better after that. That last fend was hardly impressive either. Vincent Clerc is truly gifted but not in the same class as other great wingers
I guess everyone has a defendable point of view. But it's always annoying when you hear people who have never watched a Toulouse match and barely seen France play in the RWC plus a few test matches talk about a player like they really know him. Especially when the guy plays for your country of course. It's like Montgomery : for a long time, I thought he was pure crap, because he had so catastrophically played against France (it was at the beginning of his carrier I think, any french or SA remembers?). Only recently did I realise he was not that bad after all.
I personnaly think that Clerc would easily be in my world XV, as a replacement for Habana or Rokocoko. And believe me, I wouldn't add many more french players in that team. (Dusautoir and maybe Jauzion but that's about it).

More like I can't take it seriously when someone calls Sackey, Horgan and Varndell unreal

he's the best atm...just wait until the super14 cames in...habana will return...just wait and see..

How good was Mr Rokocoko tonight? lol

Joe Rokocoko played very well tonight. He made some telling tackles, especially the one when he had to track back. His try was of the highest quality, the way he ran that line shows he is a player of pure class but also his acceleration to get away and not have a finger laid on him by any of the Chief's defenders - pure fantasticness. Best of all Rokocoko knows how to dive properly.

I know. Did you see that horrible form Clerc displayed in his hat trick dive? He had it all wrong, arms flaying all over the place, shocking body position etc.

Joe, on the other hand, has perfected the swan dive. The form he posses is so elegant and swift, he's like a silver arrow shooting through water or a hot knife slicing through butter (I think... :ph34r: ).

Vincent Clerc scored two tries this week against Perpigan (an H-Cup quaterfinalist) for a Toulouse win 41-15. Heymans scored 2 tries too.

Clerc has now scored 50 tries since his arrival Toulouse in 2002. I don't know if he's the best of the world but I think he's already the best french winger ever aheahd N'Tamack, Bernat-Salles, Dominici, Saint André... he has the best ratio, top try scorer in a world cup... etc

Habana is a pretty crap diver, he did next to nothing in the game gets the ball 5 yards out dives head first over and injures himself. I have seen Habana land on his head a few times now i'll definetely give Joe the ***le of best diver.

showboating, at this stage of the competition, should not be allowed. diving is dangerous.
