Mayweather and Pacquiao are both past it. Years ago this fight would have ground the world to a halt. Now I just don't find myself excited by these guys cashing in for a pension.
You want a real boxing rivalry Ward and Gatti were true warriors. Mayweather and Pac had the potential to create a comparable spectacle , a rivalry that would have lifted boxing from the gutter it now flows down.

I'm not excited by this.On the contrary I find it upsetting.

Well, Ali vs Frazier was one of the greatest fights ever, and they were both past their best. Really looking forward to Floyd vs Manny. And there's a rematch possibility in the agreement.

Which fight? Frazier was only 27 years old in their first fight and was undefeated (and would be for another two fights until getting destroyed by Foreman). He was almost undoubtedly at his peak. Ali was past his best, but mainly due to three years out of boxing. The two rematches both fights were a bit past their bests - but Ali despite being great was never the boxer he was after his three year absence.

A rematch possibility I guarantee happens if either Mayweather loses, or if Mayweather destroys Manny. That said a second fight would be easier to negotiate next year when Floyd isn't contracted to Showtime.

"Mayweather" and "destroys" do not belong in the same sentence. Mayweather defensivly is a genius, but he has punches softer than pillows. Manny hasn't slowed down and his power isn't gone, however his accuracy has decreased, which I feel may be somewhat of an issue for Mayweather because his defence relies on his opponents being accurate. Manny has the best angles and some of the best footwork in the game.
I honestly predict it will be a boring frustrating fight. This coming from a die hard Manny fan, I do not believe that Manny will be able to land the punches he will need to knock Floyd out, but I doubt Floyd will have the confidence to go toe to toe with Manny.

Any chances Carl Froch and Amir Kahn might get into the ring ? That's a match i'd like to see.

R.I.P to Braydon Smith who died in Toowoomba yesterday after a WBC Asia ***le. I had the honor of sparring him once in 2008.

Well, I'm happy the fight is made. $89 (US) for a PPV is apparently the rate they are considering charging which is ridiculous. Yes it's sad that this fight didn't happen a lot earlier when they weren't in their late 30s - but both fighters are still P4P ranked pretty much on the top. What's more upsetting is the number of hoops that had to be jumped through for this fight to get made, certainly not a positive thing for boxing..

I think Mayweather will most likely win this one on UD - however I'll be exceptionally pleased if he loses.

To be honest I've never known how those USA $90 PPV's work, just seems so expensive for one fight (undercards usually suck). That's not a cheap ticket to actually go to an event never mind watch it on TV.

Depends on who's on the undercard, if you get Lomachenko, Ortiz, Broner, Maidana, Khan or anyone like that on the undercard it's worth watching (Lomachenko is already booked for the May v Pac fight undercard :D )

Sparring1.jpgsparring2.jpg did 10 rounds today with a much fitter and 10kg heavier opponent, got dropped in the 4th round from a clean body shot, but recovered and finished of the other 6 rounds :)

i think Rugga Lad is referring to the Thriller in Manilla in 1976, their third fight, when Ali was 34 and Frazier was 32; not the Fight of the century, their first meeting.

Looking forward to the Joshua fight tonight on normal sky not good enough for box office yet

Good win for Joshua, think if they sorted out a fight between him and Artur Szpilka that will fill Wembley given the large polish population in the UK

So when is Joshua ready to fight some proper heavyweights, rather than these Journeymen? Hope he doesn't turn into Fraudley Harrison.
Next 2 years, would like to see him face David Price, Tyson Fury and eventually Wilder.

It was only his 11th fight, they normally take a step up around the 20th fight. Ordinary Harrison was always rubbish most boring fighter in the world without any heart.

Yep read he's finally thrown in the towel and admitted he's finished as a fighter. Probably because no promoter will give him the time of day anymore. He said he's suffering from brain damage, which is not surprising after the amount of delusional crap that's come out of his mouth. Still I think he was always suited to amateur boxing and was just found out when he turned professional. Joshua seems to have more to his game, but we won't know until he's fought a proper heavyweight and gone a full 12 rounds.

If we have to wait till Joshua fights 20 fights before he fights anyone proper, who won't get a proper shot at the world ***le until he's close to 30.

Which isnt such a problem these days as most fighters go on well past that age but also dont forget if he hadnt been injured he would have fought at least once more by now there isnt the 6 month gap between fights like there is for ***le fights

Floyd would be foolish to go toe to toe with manny. You have to fight according to your strengths. He attacks most south paws he has faced which I expect him to do but he still won't stand and trade. For him to win this fight manny has to respect his punch. He has been working on increasing his strength with Alex Ariza which is good. Floyd has definitely lost some of his speed but I still think he ll win.

Just have to look at how each of them handled Hatton to see who would win if Money went for Pacman money will take his time and get him in a trap.
