Boxing Thread

Mayweather's fights always are boring. I hate the current boxing.

I'll tell you what will happen: "Mayweather is going to win after 12 boring rounds". He will do what he always does. Defend, escape, dodge and then 2 soft punches to make points. ALL the night he will make many points and win by points, it's always the case with him. Don't expect anything spectacular.

MMA Rules

I don't think Mayweather can do that though Conrad. Manny has waited so long I've a feeling he will be like a bull in a china shop he's been waiting so long. I think Mayweather will win ( heart is for Manny) but it'll be in s cracking fight. I agree all his previous fights have been boring and more defensively being class but I don't think that'll work with Manny. Also I do wonder is Mayweather under immense pressure to entertain and this may harm his physiology.

I just get the feeling with the whole build up that Mayweather doesn't want this fight, and would rather keep his record. He's under far more pressure than Pacquiao now.

Nothing I'd enjoy more than seeing Floyds smug face wiped off by Manny. A very quick southpaw could cause Mayweather huge problems.

I hate Mayweather and not paying a penny to see this fight to put even more money in his pocket, that and I won't be able to keep my eyes open at 4am in the morning. Like most peeps I want Pacman to win, but think Mayweather will - better boxer and like the saying goes in rugby - "a good big 'un will always beat a good little 'un."

Booooooooooring

I told u, Mayweather is boring

I'm glad I don't get too excited for boxing nowadays. I was spoilt in the 90's . I get my 'fighting ' fixes watching WWE. Anyone watch King of the Ring this week ? :p

By the sounds of it, so glad I didn't waste 20 quid on that fiight.

So the best man doesn't always win.

In fairness last night Mayweather was the best by a distance. Yes he moved and stayed away BUT he threw more, landed more and missed less. A skillful defensive display but can hardly say Pac deserved it as the gap in the fight was big.
But overall a complete **** fight.

They've really gotta penalise clinching more.
Every time Manny got inside Mayweathers guard he just launched himself at Pacman and grabbed hold until the ref broke them up.

It was a quality defensive display from Mayweather, and his speed/movement was excellent. But with his larger reach he could keep Manny at arms length and jab away, and whenever manny got close he could grab hold and the ref would seperate them again.
Incredibly negative boxing, but then he cares more about his record and the money than actually fighting or entertaining.

For the fight of the century they should both have aimed at a KO instead of awarding points. I know boxing is a difficult skill but both of them got paid way too much by the fans, sponsors etc.... so at least give the crowd something in return.

Mayweather completely outboxed him. No one in their right mind could say Pacquiao won that, he threw less punches and landed less punches. Defensive masterclass really, Manny couldn't hurt him.

Boring match though and Floyd is still a ****.

Must admit, cannot see why Boxing is such a celebrity "beanfest" or even why it is still legal in this PC era!!!

However, I do understand that boxing is primarily about scoring points while protecting oneself..............on that basis, from what I have read and heard (as would never have dreamed to pay and watch), the winner seemed to have done that best and to urge them to go for a KO to "reward" the so called celebrities who flew into Vegas on their jets, or even those who paid ridiculous money to watch on TV, is a bit silly really!!

Think that's the big issue across all of boxing. The heavyweight division is like gay porn they're constantly clinching. But that's the higher authorities problem. Mayweather executed his plan superbly he couldn't care how boring it was.

I don't know when boxing gets it right it really gets it right. Froch v Kessler were both great fights in recent times and then you look back at some of the classics like hagler Hearns and they take a lot of beating in sporting terms and don't forget the most famous sportsman of all time was a boxer but I agree it isn't what it used to be
