Battle of the worst anthems

in my personnel opinion power of four is a load of cheesy crap
 
I'm a Scot and I think that 'Flower of Scotland' is a complete dirge!

I wish someone would put some inspiring words to the tune of 'Highland Cathedral'... now THAT would be an anthem!

Flower of Scotland is a defeatist anthem.... once we beat Edward and haven't had a victory since.

The Soldier's Song is a fine national anthem for the Republic of Ireland - but doesn't represent the team that represent a team representing both Northern Ireland and Southern Ireland/Irish Free State/Eire (as your seceding counties have been known since the 1920s)!

The anthem for Ireland is Ireland's Call and the flag is the IRFU's four provinces/shamrock banner... end of.
 
ive got no issue with amhran na bhfiann not being used but irelands call is useless id love some suggestions for a new irish rugby anthem but then again knowing this country we'd probably just use a song written by jedward

Ireland's Call took a while to grow on me. Now I think Phil Coulter did a great job producing a unifying anthem.

However if I had to choose a tune that puffed your chest out and filled you with pride the outstanding Killaloe would be a favourite closely followed by Garryowen. Now for some lyrics...
 
Oddest anthem for me was the japanese anthem, sounds more like the score for a big epic film.
Sleep inducing/least inspiring anthem award goes to God save the Queen, it's just dire.
La Marseillaise is always good, shame it doesnt seem to be having any effect on the french squad at the moment,
Italian anthem is always entertaining.

As for the Irish anthems, Amhrán na bhFiann is a great anthem I personally have no problem with it, Ulstermen should just stand in quiet dignity or join in for the craic. Ireland's Call is getting a bit annoying, Sung by a crowd in a stadium fine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjMrPgk1eU8 that is just bloody cheese and pretty damn painful.
 
The Australian national anthem is the most boring piece of **** I have ever heard. The only time I have ever enjoyed it was during the 2006 FIFA World cup where the fans belted it out. In no way is it motivating or fitting for any big sporting occasion, I mean who the **** has ever used the word "girt". C'mon at least give us something good to sing.

I think Flower of Scotland is excellent, but Scotland the Brave is better IMO. You guys should change it.
 
Ireland's Call=OK don't really like it that much

Amhran na bhFiann= Spine tingling

Flower of Scotland = Funniest anthem ever (no offence intended)
 
The tunes a bit funny to me and it isn't about a war you lost?
 
Love Irelands call. When the atmospheres right and they actually belt it out theres nothing like it.
 
Why would you put a link to that up, at least 4 members of TRF have just cut themselves. :D
