Barbarians v New Zealand

Country has nothing to do with it. It's just the position. Look at Mike Phillips. And O'Leary. And while there are some out there who aren't always getting stuck in (Du Preez, Blair, Genia, etc.), it happens more often then not.

Quite an entertaining game, but i think the one thing that let new zealand down in this game was their scrum halves. Poor display by Leonard overall, but to be fair, the barbarians were lucky. They took the opportunities when handed to them, which is essential at any level of rugby, but we all know New Zealand controlled a lot of the match.
Needless to say, if Habana wasn't on the field, the babas wouldn't have won.

Very true, with one try off an intercept and another one from near their own goalline after some clumsy play from NZ saw Mitchell grab the ball from the floor to feed Habana the Baabaas were a bit lucky. That is quite scary considering that the Baabaas were representing near enough to a world XV without All Blacks (a couple of 1st and 2nd choices and the others weren't too far off) playing a decidedly 2nd string All Blacks line-up. One has to take into account that the Baabaas hadn't had alot of time together, though. That said NZ deserve to be ranked top again after a lacklustre Springbok display on tour.

An accurate, gracious post there. New Zealand doesn't take our top rank (for now) status as something that can't be stolen away next year. After all the Boks outplayed us in the test we had on our turf this year as well as the two over there, so we realise that there are a few teams waiting to pounce if the big games aren't won next year.

Why the issue about the Barbarians having more players from the SH? So what[/b]

Take out the Southren Hemisphere players and how many players are left in that team that played the All Blacks.

Duh!!!....take out those players and the Baabaas wouldnt have been a good team.

C'mon use your brain.

Hang on, you take out the SH players that played on saturday, replace them with NH players and you've pretty much got a Lions team, no?
Only with Parisse at no.8 (when not injured) and a few french.
Doesn't sound like that wouldn't be a good team to me.
But the SH deservedly made up most of the baabaas team on saturday.

The barbarians would be just as good a side as we saw last week if they'd been able to pick a completely full strength Northern Hemisphere side. It'd be the Lions with the french and maybe the odd italian. Just as dangerous in my opinion.

It's just they seem to be able to get better Southern Hemisphere players due to availability. In any case, there is no North vs South game annually for anyone to care really.
