vB Aviva Premiership: Northampton Saints vs Gloucester Rugby (04/09/2011 15:30)

vBookie for this match now added!

That's a strong Gloucester team

Surprised to see Vainikolo at 12 though, I didn't really follow Gloucester a massive amount last season though so he may have played there a ton :D

Gloucester have got a cracking set of backs on them in Morgan, Sharples, JSD and Burns

Their back line is **** worthy.

Their pack... less so.

Vanikolo at inside centre hmm... Should be a one of the better games though. Expecting Saints to win this, they still have a solid side. Alot of new players that will be trying to force there way in when the Internationals come back will have to play well in these 6weeks.

I hope that the Internationals get a couple of weeks of though after the RWC. England have always just brought them straight back into action and there form always dips because they are exhausted.

I have thought for the past year that Vainikolo should be tried at 8, he's too slow to be a winger and looking back to his Rugby League days he was good at short explosive runs, I think he would be better suited to 8

When Rugby League wing comes over to Union, coaches always think they should play wing in Union, but it is wrong, wing in League is different to wing in Union

I'm convinced Vainikolo off the back of the scrum and crash ball from rucks would be far more effective than on the wing

Vainokolo still exists. Wow. Had no idea.

Interesting Saints team, no Clarke/Dickson/Wilson around. Also, two second rows on the bench? I can only guess that Shamu's going to play the full game and get shifted to the back row at some point. Have no idea how they're going to perform.

Diggin's easily the fattest guy on the pitch, including all the forwards - how'd he make it through all the BF% tests in preseason with a gut like that?!

Despite Greig Tonks best efforts Saints managed a win

Gloucester looked pretty good though

Don't want to go through that too often.

I can't wait to see Manoa and Lawes together in the Saints 2nd row. That's serious beast mode right there.

Manoa showed great skill and phjysicality. But he made an almost unforgiveable error when he broke away with the ball and didn't make the pass go to hand because he was waving the ball around in one hand like a crazy lunatic. It would have been a certain try and he had all the time he needed

Also why can't we have dowson in our world cup squad? He's got everything easter has and more; more destructive running, picks great lines, and no older than easter

What a great game that was, late heart attacks n'all.

Evening all first time poster here!

Will James, pints on me son :D - Fantastic end to the game, extremely lucky to come away with the victory after that frantic 5 minutes, Gloucester great character.

I agree Dowson was epic again, great win for saints :D. Tom May seemed to slot in fine and Myler had a good game.

Theres giving a last minute penalty away because you've over-committed yourself at the breakdown, and there's giving a last minute penalty away because you've taken a punch/swipe at an opposition back-row or whoever it was...completely unbelievable

Dowson's a fine player, and should have probably been more in contention, but as he didn't start regularly last season at 8, he was never going to be in the running for the position and shouldn't be compared to Easter.
