Australia vs New Zealand

New Zealand well on top in this first match, methinks Ponting missed a trick with the power play, should have taken it once Hadden was set with Hussey but too late now as he's just gone.

and to add insult to injury Mike Hussey gets out when they finally do take it.

so all out for 181, not even the mighty South Africans managed to dismiss them for so low a total, will take some effort now for the Aussies to get their no. 1 ranking back now.

good lord that was such an obvious inside edge, desperate call from the umpire, same one who made the Hussey call as well. Not a good day for him.

I've got a subscription with Eurosport

another bad call as far as I'm concerned, Haddin's glove took the bails off.

that looks like the crucial wicket from Bracken, great catch from Clarke. Need 12 off 15 balls with 3 wickets left

think he was just about safe, even if the commentators are saying it was out they certainly deserve a break after the 2 howlers from the umpires

hard to know where to look, this coming right down to it, NZ need 2 off 2 balls and the tennis going into a 5th set.

well what a finish, Vetori with the boundary off the final ball, who'd have thought half way through it would come down to the final ball. What a start to the series though.

I'd be the last to admit it, but it seems Australia's aura of invincibility is gone. No longer can we make excuses about every facet of play. It's time to admit the likes of South Africa are our equal.

Whilst we should beat New Zealand next time around, this loss has merely confirmed our demise.

it's not as if Australia can use the injuries as an excuse as there were key senior players missing for NZ as well.

Well I don't think they are... And as a country, neither are we.

More along the lines of Sri Lanka being your equal whilst SA and India being the two superior teams in the world don't you reckon?

maybe they're not themselves but it has been bandied about to a fair extent in other quarters.

that's certainly the way things appear to me, it's also worrying for the Aussies that you can't be guaranteed winning the Ashes even with the nonsense that's going on in England.
