So Biden all but confirmed

Will be a very bitter pill to swallow for many to vote for him but, even if he has been a **** stain his entire career, you still have to think of the alternative and also look at how another trump presidency would influence the supreme court (think I read that there'll be three new appointments during the next term?)

I think trump will cruise it, though - bad times.

depends on how many justices resign/die.

breyer and Ginsburg are the oldest, and IMO they both have to answer to why they didn't resign during Obama's administration.

they are both Clinton appointees and decidedly liberal.

Thomas (who is a certified idiot, there a conservative judges I can at least understand their reasoning but Thomas is not one of them. There's a reason he never writes opinions) is the longest tenured but he still probably has a couple more years in him. I could see him resigning just to get another conservative.

So if trump wins, it's possible but not certain, that two liberal justices leave and get replaced with conservatives. Roe v Wade would be overturned and the federal government's power would be greatly diminished.

From tweeting that it was not as dangerous as the flu and that the Democrats were using it as fake news and America was fully prepared and numbers of cases low to now travel ban from Europe (26 countries) but not including the UK.

Travel ban not including the UK seams off, we have it and in a worst condition than some countries on that list.

It makes sense though, you don't need a passport to travel between any of those countries if you're a citizen, a blanket ban seems appropriate.

If either the UK or Ireland get to the point where the US feel travel unsafe then we'll both get hit with the ban because of the travel arrangement in place.

Schools, colleges and childcare closed til the end of the month here. Places of work advised to promote remote working.

If sport gets cancelled and gyms and bars close I'm gonna struggle.

It's a political stunt to distract the American people from the fact that the Trump administration was unprepared and inept. They have 1185 cases with 38 deaths which in percentage terms puts them around Italy level. On top they are only just getting testing kits out so the number of infected people is likely to shoot up and they will realise that it's not been contained even remotely.

Banning travel from countries who are dealing with the issue better is good for those countries, not America.

I love how a lot of the hard-line brexit supporters are now telling us to listen to the experts, but told us to ignore them when it came to the impact of Brexit.

Few days ago the BBC got some stick for having Farage speaking about the virus and said to listen to the WHO and the expects, yet a few years ago he told people not to listen to the WHO when it came to deaths caused by smoking

Sadly the opposite is also happening people who on Brexit said listen to experts now want to ignore them because of which government is in charge.

I do know experts are a bit peeved the governments announcement later today was supposed to be last night which I read in multiple locations. However I think that more from hitting the ground running this morning because there are things they cannot do until they officially put in place.

yesterday when I got an email from my school saying **** was cancelled and the nba suspended their season I thought I'd go insane. Luckily school is keeping gym open.

Luckily for me being an outdoor runner its unlikely I'll get affected at all as most countries restrictions are for events below 500 people outside. So the big names (e.g. London Marathon) will get hit but all the far smaller events will likely go ahead.

My timing sucks, been on study leave and just finished exams but no one really wants to go out now.

Was meant to join a new gym next week but not sure I should bother paying for it now.

Meant to play my first match since January on Sunday but that's not looking good.

And was meant to visit the States at the end of April but we'll see how long that option stays open now. :(

Soccer and Gaelic sports off here now too, rugby will follow imminently.

The delay phase here could be incredibly lengthy too, we don't have the infrastructure to get out either way. I'm getting fairly anxious myself.

The GAA have done the right thing here by stopping everyone from even training.

We've reacted pretty decisively at a fairly early stage which has to be a good thing, s*** on a personal level though.

In my firm they have told us to work from home until further notice. Anyone else?

Countries all over the world banning mass gatherings and trying to stop the spread of the disease. Boris Johnson "Well you're going to get it anyway so let's get it out the way." Honestly they say they want to delay it and yet refuse to implement measures that would delay it. Almost every other country with similar levels of outbreak is doing so, yet Britain seems to be defying the trend and refusing to stop events and gatherings that could . Either our experts know something the other countries don't or the government has found advisors to tell them what they want to hear. I honestly think this is more about the economy and Brexit because the government is afraid it's going to seriously impact Britain just before it has a showdown with the E.U and threatens to walk away with no deal.

Italy death toll is now up to nearly 7% because they can't cope. I get that they don't want to jump the gun, but surely that time has passed. Italy has 15,000 infected and apparently Britain estimates between 5000-10000 people are. Apparently 20% roughly are asymptomatic, so best case scenario there are a 1000 moving around who can spread the virus. People are infectious before they show symptoms It can live on surfaces from 3 days up to 7 days. Honestly they don't want it to spread, yet allowed people to fly back from northern Italy with no checks. People only self-isolate when they show symptoms. I may not be an expert, but I don't see how the measures they have announced will slow drastically.

Yeah, there is gaping holes in the logic that you could drive a fukkin' supertanker through.

Want to delay the peak and push it down, but are happy to have the one group of society that will not listen to social distancing recommendations continue to go a place whereby one home can spread it to 30 other homes in the space of 2 or 3 days.
Great. Sounds like a plan.

More to basic logic; Italy delayed getting drastic and look where it landed them. Why do they expect the UK - with a markedly worse health system - to do any better? There is absolutely no way that there is a significant difference in understanding the virus between the time of Italy's decisions and the UK's.

Honestly when I heard we were gonna be in lockdown I mostly just felt bad for @big ginger 8 's Mickey. Won't get a moment's peace.

With everyone working from home using the internet, his Pr0n Centre (or Personal Computer to the rest of us), might not be able to stream without substantial buffering.... could be most frustrating.
