Warren drops out, but has the damage to Bernie already been done?

Bookies now have Biden 1/7 favourites with Bernie 7/1.

Bernie could have picked up a load more delegates of Warren had left the party earlier, IMO, and even taken a few territories from Biden.

Either-way I think both Biden and Bernie would struggle against Trump, but Bernie would have a much better showing.

Biden is going to be destroyed during any TV debates.

How? Trump hardly showed he was a good debater last time around.

The only way Biden or Bernie looses this is if Trump's base doesn't wane and democrartics can't be ducked to turn out in states that voted red again. Which is exactly what I'm expecting to happen...

He's shifty enough that trump can just rip him for that (despite the countless allegations against trump)
People don't care about policies they care about sound bites

Honestly because Biden has a penis I don't think its going to work as well as it did against Clinton, not that I'm expecting a different result.

I dunno, trump's base has locked onto how creepy Biden is around women (stroking their faces when they don't won't etc)
I expect that to ramp up on social media if he wins the nom

I think Biden will be handily beaten by Trump for a number of reasons, but primarily because a 'moderate/centrist/establishment' candidate won't play well in this climate. Also Trump will absolutely go in on Ukraine and other such pot calling the kettle black issues (sunsetting, being a creep), and his base will love it. I also think a lot of progressives will be totally disenfranchised by Biden and won't bother to turn out (not that they've bothered so far) for a pro-fracking candidate with a very mixed record on a number of hot button issues, which is another example of how ridiculous a two party system is, but I digress. At this point, the democrats are way more fractured and self-cannibalising than the republicans.
Sanders I think would stand a better chance, but the field proved too small for both himself and Warren.

But also as sitting President Trump has an inbuilt advantage. How many other Presidents in the last 60 years have failed to get a second term? Ford because he took over from Nixon mid term and was tarnished by Watergate, Carter because he was a peanut farmer who was frankly out of his depth and George Bush Senior after the Republicans had been in power for 3 terms already. Even Dubya got a second term and even on the back of Iraq.

There is no candidate to beat Trump. No way IMO Sanders stands a chance when it comes down to being the other candidate, because ultimately America will not vote for an old Leftist President. Biden has a better chance IMO, but is still up against it. But we've got a look at Brexit (yeah I know different countries and political landscape and all that) but still the underlying reasons why Trump was elected i.e. populism is still relevant and why he was elected in the first place.

The trouble with the dems now is
Bernie's lot hate Biden
Biden's lot hate Sanders
And all the primaries have done is take focus of beating trump and turned it into beating the other, to the point where it's created such a toxic it feeling to each other's camp that people a good chunk of the left will just not vote in the presidential ticket.

Reality is both would most likely lose.
But I think Bernie has the ground roots and the aggression to beats Trump at trumps own game than Biden has. Especially with Joe's cognitive issues, everyday is another gaffe the guy endorsed trump the other day basically. (corona came at a good time for him gives his team a chance to hide him). Vice President will most likely be Harris. She would do well v Pence but in reality unless you are Palin do people really focus on VP stuff? (Even though Biden's will prob become President in 2 years should he will)

Bernie had a heart attack like 5 months back, @78, 77 and 73 all candidates for the presidency are dubious on age and actually surviving the 4 years....its ridiculous.

But physical health IMO is at least easier to hide than Cognitive health.
Heart attacks have not been uncommon amongst presidents/candidates either.

If Bernie has sense he would try to get Warren as VP now if she wants it I don't know.

I used to support Warren but she has come across as quite a spiteful individual. The whole going after Sanders saying he said a woman couldn't be president and saying he was lying was particularly galling considering he has been one of the most consistent politically over the years, moreso than Warren. I don't think she would accept it.

It's the problem with the left both in the USA and UK, too busy self-destructing and end up giving the right wing a disproportionately large say in what happens.

The MH17 begins. Why is Russia always playing the victim card?

Because it works and it's been embraced in the west too now by Trump and Johnson. They realise a very large segment of the population simply will hear what they want to hear. The Nazis recognised this, the Russians do and so do others. Just deny deny deny and many will simply accept the denial. Add to that firing the same accusation back at the accuser (as happens in the article) and you have a large segment of the populace who decide nobody can be trusted so go with whoever they want.

Many in the west have also come to view Russia as the defender of strong white people, although they may deny it. It's a highly conservative and xenophobic country and that attitude appeals to other conservative and xenophobic people.

Yes, you have a good point that it is very effective tactic used by Russia and now becoming more reflective in populist Western Governments. But it's now blatantly obvious Russia getting its hands caught in the cookie jar time and again, that only the most gullible will believe the "it wasn't me" response. It ****** me off every time I hear same denials and then counter with there is "no evidence" (well there is plenty) and "you can't talk, look at your own government....". Jeez, is that all they have?

So Biden all but confirmed

Will be a very bitter pill to swallow for many to vote for him but, even if he has been a **** stain his entire career, you still have to think of the alternative and also look at how another trump presidency would influence the supreme court (think I read that there'll be three new appointments during the next term?)

I think trump will cruise it, though - bad times.

I see Chris Grayling has been appointed chair of the intelligence committee...

Bit of an oxymoron there

That man has staggering resilience. What has he got that allows him to be worse than useless and yet still be allowed in a position where he has the power to decide anything other than which underwear he will wear that day, assuming he remembers to wear any at all.

Also footage of the Russians when asked about anything controversial:
