I walked past a bus stop earlier and heard some old geezer angrily shouting "Foreigners are ruining this country" at someone else. Dangerous that morons like this can actually have a say in who governs the country.

These people never stop to think that foreigners have been entering Britain for centuries. If what they say is true, we must be one hell of a shithole by now. Actually...

It's somewhat shocking that their vote is worth the same as others

I'm not a fan of Andrew Neil's political views but as a host questioning politicians he is often very good. See this for example:

She (apparently) gets a fair bit of undeserved abuse - or (I suspect), abuse that goes way beyond what's deserved.
She absolutely deserves abuse for that. Deserves to be sacked for this one - objecting to her workplace hosting a political debate and including Corbyn. Had she kept it personal, then she'd simply deserve abuse (preferably from Jimmy Carr); as it is, she brought her work into it, and objects to their political neutrality; and that is surely sackable.
I disagree, she has been very vocal about the anti semitism in the labour party and the abuse and attacks that she has received from within it. She has also said in the past that she believes this comes from the top.

If a Muslim TV personality put something up wearing a t-shirt about how Boris was a racist, it would be applauded.. people wouldn't call for them to be sacked.

I would seriously love to know the what percentage Conservatives speak about their own policies and and what percentage they spend talking about the other parties, because whilst all politicians do it, they seem to spend a good 75%+ of their time about what they other parties (mainly Labour) would do.

Not even that, they spend a lot of time making up what the other parties would do

It's one of the most brain-dead "political statements" I've ever seen. As far as I'm aware the only proven anti-Semitic stance of Corbyn's (and I use the anti-Semitic definition provided by the USA) is that he's against Israel's current regime, primarily bombing the ever loving **** out of Palestine. So straight away it's defamatory unless she's privy to information that we're not, doubtful.

Couple this with this photo being from an anti-apartheid march and she's leaving herself wide open to be attacked and ridiculed. Firstly, Israel's current policies on Palestinian Arabs is routinely compared to apartheid. Secondly Israel offered to sell apartheid South Africa nuclear weapons and are alleged to have helped them develop the ones they produced. So rather than prove Corbyn is a racist she's really just proven that his ideals have remained consistent throughout the decades.

This is coming from someone who thinks Corbyn is totally inept and is as much at fault as May or Boris for the **** the UK is going through. I personally don't believe he's anti-Semitic, I'm skeptical when anyone who is pro-palestine is branded as such considering the stigma around that particular stance in the States but even if he was Riley couldn't have ****** up more here.

Corbyn isnt anti semitic but he has not dealt with the large level of anti semitism in his party.

Haven't studies shown that there's less anti-semitism in Labour than there is in the Conservatives?

The response hasn't been proportionate to the media outrage, sure, but the media outrage over it has been insane.

The reality is regardless of Corbyn actual views or if the Tory party is worse. The word from the ground by many Labour Supporting Jewish people is Labour has a big problem and refuses to handle it in any meaningful way. I know personally of at least in member who has resigned their membership and they were a huge Corbyn supporter early days. Most Jewish people in the public eye say there is a problem. I can only come to the conclusion there is quite a legitimate problem. And Corbyn has been next to useless in actually handling it.

And the issue has sod all to do 'but their more racist' yes but I'd rather not vote for any racist and shouldn't be having to make that distinction.

On Riley herself, she has been extremely vocal against Corbyn on this matter. She has been quite highly abused on it as well. As typically happens to anyone who doesn't get in line and love magic Grampa. This is just bad judgement of which photo was used but she can't be attacked for sentiment. She's also on Countdown not a news program so can take any view she wishes.

What studies?

Taken off Twitter so take it with a pince of salt.

There is anti-Semitism issues everywhere but when most newspapers claim to provide evidence of it can be misleading, just like when the same newspapers claim foreigners are taking their jobs.

What studies?
Just looked it up again and it's only a yougov poll of party members, so it's not exactly scientific:

This is taken from the JPR report, which is a little more scientific, though:

Are there anti-semites in the Labour party?
Yes.
Should they be expelled?
Yes.

Are any other parties being held to the same standard as Labour?
No.
Are the conservatives being dragged over hot coals for having more incidents of anti-semitism in their party?
No.
Are the media even batting an eyelid at rampant islamophobia in the tory party?
Not a chance.

Unfortunately the majority of media do have an agenda and they don't want a labour government under Corbyn. The spin they put out has been very effective and it's worrying how much people believe.

Honestly here's the reality,

Does anyone who votes Tory care about racism in the Tory party?
No

Does anyone who votes Labour care about racism in the Labour party?
Yes

Hence why one is a story and the other is not.

Simple fact is that people in this country are becoming more racist, more xenophobic, more nationalistic and it's a worrying trend. We make fun of America for Trump, but we have a country about to elect Boris Johnson and give him a majority to do what he wants. It's also reflected across the world with many other countries having an increase in support for nationalistic parties. Globalisation has exploded in the last 20-30 years and the world has changed so much that unfortunately most people have reverted back to the most basic human instincts of survival and fear. Many people actually fear change and want to keep the status quo, regardless of if it's actually working, or even worse go back to the past because of some misplaced sense of nostalgia and longing for something that never actually existed. Those in power and especially those on the nationalistic side realise this and encourage people's fears by blaming most of the problems on foreigners who have arrived and changed the country, regardless of if it is true. The native people who fear the change leap onto this simple explanation, because they cannot simply face the truth which is that their own politicians and their own country are to blame for their problems.

I have no idea what the solution is tbh other than hoping younger generations keep hold of their ideals as there does seem to be a large generation gap between older generations who want their country back and younger generations who are more tolerant and in another 20-30 years people will be more accepting of others.

The racism was always there is was just repressed. The recent climate as brought it into the open but it was always there.
