Agreed on the decisions being made behind the scenes. And leaders who are in the way get moved out of the way. Look at Gaddafi. I had no love for the man and he was a tyrant but that didn't make any difference up until he made a move for something that would actually benefit Africa; a move to a continental currency backed by gold. He didn't last long after that; bad for business.
The EU keeps africa dirt poor by slapping massive tariffs on all their imports

A forum I used to go on had a ban on discussing abortion, because it was the one topic that always led to monkey-like poo-slinging. So I propose that's where we start. :p

Pro-choice all the way.
I personally am pro choice but far more should be invested in allowing these potential parents to have as much time knowledge help information as possible to make an unhurried informed decision they will not regret for the rest of their lives. Many parents to be regret an abortion and in many cases are unable to have children in future. These people are often in difficult circumstances , financially and emotionally. But how many of them are fully aware they can have the child and give the child up for adoption or fostering etc? That at least allows the unborn child a chance to live and that in turn gives these parents to be some peace of mind. Many many women have said they felt pressurised and rushed into abortions they later regret. Sadly this aspect is never discussed as the whole topic has long been hijacked by the hardline PC brigade and hard line feminists who feel men have no right to even discuss the topic. Well have the children being aborted are male and half the parents to be are male, so yes males should have a right to an opinion too.

I think that's the single most stupid thing I've read in the last 3 years!
Its not its true. Why is the EU refusing to put a fixed date on the backstop ? To keep the UK in europe thats why. You refuse to acknowledge it because you are a biased remainer.

Why are we bringing up posts from 5 years ago?

The EU will shamelessly continue to use the threat to the good friday agreement to blackmail us into staying

What IS shameless is that the ERG, Farage and other Brexiteers gave the border conundrum virtually zero prominence during the referendum campaign. Did they fail to anticipate how serious it would be or did they know about it and deliberately keep quiet? Either way it's not good. Why didn't they present a solution during the campaign. They can't even present one now.

To say the EU are using the Good Friday agreement to blackmail the UK is desperate stuff indeed. The EU have made no secret that they would have preferred the UK to stay in the union - exactly the same position the British government took during the Scottish Indyref campaign.

Why would the EU put a time limit on a backstop to ensure peace in the North of Ireland when the backstop is only designed to exist until the UK can offer a more permanent solution for the border issue. A solution the UK has not offered. As per usual the ball is in the UK's court and the Tories are sticking their fingers in their arses and saying Europe did it. Oh shame on the EU for reminding Britain of their commitment towards peace in the North and looking out for a country that intends to remain a member of the EU.
The only one stopping the UK from leaving is the UK.

Because the backstop keep the Good Friday Agreement in place? FFS have you forgotten the almost daily disruption that the threat of Irish Republican Terrorism bought to our lives? I was a child in 90's in one of the safer regions of the UK and I haven't forgotten....I'm half surprised the Irish aren't screaming at you for how it was for them.

The GFA is more important than Brexit.

typical biased narrow minded blinkered disingenuous remain post. the eu are insistent on the hard border and the eu are insistent on not allowing a time limit on this never ending backstop which basically forces the uk to stay in the EU. They are totlaly corrupt and they ARE using the good friday agreement and the irish border to blackmail the Uk into staying. you will refuse to acknowledge this FACT as it doesnt suit your agenda. But as time marches on the remainers will have to realise this is what the EU are doing and it is absolutely disgusting

Wrong. Northern Ireland is part of the UK and UK voted to leave. The EU should offer a permanent solution as its the EU who are insisting on putting a hard border in Ireland.

There'll be more than half a million EU citizens in NI post Brexit. The backstop is to protect them and to prevent the UK from breaking another International treaty they have with an EU state. Not everything is about the UK you know, especially when you're dealing with a union that's far more powerful and better run!

Continuing the UK's good work so... Don't act as if Brexit it to save the starving children, no one who has ever been on the same landmass as a history book will ever buy that.

probably because the issues havent been dealt with
The issue of abortion in the UK (minus Northern Ireland) has found a happy medium for well over 50 years (with minor tweaks in 1990 and 2008). Its not really a topic that a hot button in most people eyes and considered one of personal choice. The US is a diffrent matter but I don't live there.

Plus I'm having a very adult conversation at this minute with many of my more left leaning friends....I don't need to throw your idiocy into the mix.
