A Political Thread pt. 2

And, apparently, the Tories lost because the liberals took control of the Conservative party (despite having been deselected ahead of 2019) and governed as liberals (as shown by the compleye absence of people like Braverman, Battenoch, Patel, JRM, Truss etc from positions of authority).
The answer, of course, is to eject the liberals (again), and be even bigger c***s.
Marcus Fysh ex-MP of Yeovil quit the party saying they needed to be more center-right. Then went on to claim the party was being run by socialists.....

He used to get pelters for not singing the anthem due to the fact he's an atheist and a republican.

Not a fan of Corbyn but kinda admire him sticking to his principles and not being two faced.

IMO it's an out of date and out of touch national anthem that glorifies one individual who was born into a position of privilege and assumes we live in a single faith society when we don't. I'd rather have an anthem that unifies people, reflects current day society and is a celebration of being British. I guess a lot of people sing it without thinking about the lyrics too much but I can understand those who choose not to join in.

Maybe Wales need to change there's to be more inclusive of the thousands of Welsh people who don't speak welsh

Scotland should modenise and stop banging on about beating Edward Long Shanks i think it was.

Most anthems strike me as being out of touch. They're mainly about war, fighting or revolutions.

Plus the Welsh anthem doesn't factor in those who are gluten intolerant.

Tbf, the second verse of Flower of Scotland does state "Those days are past now and in the past they must remain". Adding these very lyrics to GSTK would improve things dramatically.

**** the half measures.

How about just get rid of the entitled spongers and reclaim all the land of the crown estate for the people?

It doesn't necessarily have to follow the French approach....

Just seen this, Russ in Cheshire has been going beyond the week in tory, to do the 14 years in tory; with a thread (sometimes 2) for each year.
Starting June 27th, currently up to 2018, and I think the brown smelly stuff is about to his the air-circulating bladed thing:

Unfit for the job. Surely only a matter of time.

Starmer getting pushed on that by journos and totally refusing to answer their questions.

The more focus on it, the more it stands out. Don't blame Starmer for not answering the questions. Not like he's going to throw the U.S President under the bus on what his 4th/5th day?

Obviously not, but it must have been very awkward for him.

At least Biden realise that mistake and corrected it. Unlike his subsequent reference to vice president Trump! Other than that he apparently did OK……

Rightly so.
A] It's not his place to comment on an ongoing election in a different country.
B] He's not a neurologist or geriatrician, and not remotely qualified to say if anyone is senile or not. Least of all the (current) leader of the most powerful nation in the world.

I would imagine any political figure who meets Biden will now have scripted lines ready when they get pressed by journos about him. Starmer dealt with it well IMO and didn't seem caught off guard.

Last night was surely the final straw. Putin and his cronies must have been in stitches. The Democrats have messed up so badly by letting it come to this. I don't see how any replacement has enough time to build up momentum and give Trump a run for his money.
