A Political Thread pt. 2

You think offering a peerage to someone who has been found to have been corrupt and took ages to fall on their sword is a non story? Bearing in mind these can't be viewed in isolation, they are part of a now extremely clear trend. There is an extremely simple test that can be done in politics (or many other things) to determine if your view is partisan or not. Replace the name of the party involved and if you suddenly feel it isn't acceptable or it in any way changes your opinion on it, your view is being skewed by partisanship.

Jeremy Corbyn stays for free at the villa of someone he made a lord and, after trying to change the rules to prevent punishing a Labour member found guilty of breaking ethics rules regarding corruption, is looking to make the now disgraced MP a lord. If that reads like a set of stories you would get angry at then there is no excuse to not get angry now.
Nowhere does that tweet say anyone was offered a peerage.

Refusing to deny one was offered if you want to be pedantic. You honestly think with this current bunch that refusing to deny it means anything other than it is true?

The only reasons people refuse to deny something are where it's true or the is some sensitive information involved. A person being offered a peerage is not the latter so why could they not simply say "no" when asked if he'd been offered one? This is the spokesman for a man who can't even admit how many ******* children he has for god sake.

It's pretty standard practice to just dodge those kind of questions - I can understand why you would read into it.

If you give any answer (even "no") thrn you make to easier to create a headline. It may have happened, but I'm not reading into the lack of comment

It's pretty standard practice for the current lot, not standard practice normally. "Tories have not offered a peerage to disgraced MP" is far less of a headline than "Tories refuse to deny offering peerage to disgraced MP". I can understand why you are making excuses for them though.

Again we are talking about a spokesperson for a man who can't even confirm how many children he has. I guess dodging questions about how many children you have is standard practice too? You just see that all the time right?

And there you have it, standard practice is to hide and avoid transparency. What does that say for our democracy that governments are more worried about a headline than being open and honest with the people they are elected to serve.

Watch from about 6 minutes, it sums up perfectly what is wrong with democracy in this country and in America. It's not about serving the public, it's about being re-elected. Now I'm sure you will say well other parties do the same and your right, but they aren't the ones in power and they aren't the ones capable of enacting reform. If anything the Tories are taking us further and further away from accountability and transparency.

On the Owen Paterson scandal, this piece by JOB highlights perfectly why the Conservatives are now struggling to get away with things compared with the last few years.

Would you look at that, it IS possible for a party to punish their own MPs and demand they stand down. Now why could the Tories not do this? Got more excuses to wheel out or are Tory supporters beginning to work out that the current crop of Tories are morally bankrupt? The whole "Well it would be worse under Labour" or "everyone does it" sounding pretty hollow isn't it?

A few photographers I follow have been making bank on NFTs, so I'm happy for them - the bubble will burst but get that bread while you can

It's all the dog **** pixel art and cartoon monkeys etc. that I hate
And how condescending and sanctimonious the crypto bros are about it

Yeh basically my issue with it.

I follow a few artists and digital artists who done well of it early on now it's all the same Ape **** or whatever that has just been made from 3 layers of procreate on some guys iPad with discord's full of thousands trying to just bump the price up as much as they can.

Mind people are doing that with all sort of crypto scams you see the squid game coin rug pull?

The entire blockchain tech is house of cards destined to fall apart. Simply put there is no intrinsic value to what is being traded. I am amazed it lasted this long, mind you if you work for a tech firm and you and you can think of a bullshit reason to include it in the work your doing you can quite easially make a name for yourself.

I mean, it really is... We are one of the money laundering capitols of the world and the fact he even has to say that is quite telling. Let's just remember that the Tories under May recognised that the UK company structures lent themselves to laundering activities and promised to review them. Now under the Johnson government, no prize for guessing if anything has been done about it.

Be back to normal in 10 days don't worry lol
Oh I know,

In reality its question of if this remains a sustained assault I think it would of blown over by now if Cox hadn't now been raised. If they line up another Tory afterwards and another eventually it'll do damage.

Or we'll go to war with Argentina
