A Political Thread pt. 2

The only bit of political headway McGregor ever made in Ireland was inciting the Dublin riot in 2023. The friendship makes sense. The meeting was a massive waste of presidential time however.

Bono must be loving it, no longer our most hated export!
I met Bono once, accidentally. Leaving Giants stadium where he played in 2010 I think, can't remember that far back.

I was in a back corridor sneaking to the toilet, as he and a number of others came out of a side door, I'll never forget his 8 words of inspiration, especially after listening to him rant about geopolitical issues with the odd song thrown in all night...

'Get rid of whoever the **** this is'

What a bell!

Not one to give him the benefit of the doubt but, he might have mistaken you for Alun Wyn Jones!

I'm not harrasesed lol. You are well aware, because I made a statement of being a free speech advocate, you've decided I'm a pro Trump conservative who Is evil lol. You've been corrupted by the media you consume...

Have a critical thought, hold different political opinions that aren't your teams lol, it's like you've picked a side and everyone who disagrees on a single issue is an 'other' hahaha this thinking is why Trump won, and it will lead to reactionary backlash that will be good for noone
No I've not decided your a pro-Trump advocate. I've decided you've no understanding of Equality and Discrimination law, Public Order law and why people are protected characteristics.

The media I consume has nothing to do with it, and just assumption on your part.

I've sat in on too many disciplinary meetings, and grievance meetings. Seen to many public order incidents Where so called free speech advocates have decided that they can say what they like to women, older colleagues or people different from them. The regular it's just banter being the standard defence.

No amount of free speech gives you the right to be a tool.

You really need to listen to yourself lol...

You know what they say about assumptions mate

That you assume I'm your mate?
The pettiness is a lifestyle choice I assume sweetheart?

It's a forum for discussion, your rage filled, so desperate to be right and prove you know more than others, what do you get for being like this?

As I mentioned I've watched these threads for a while, but have been reluctant to comment because of this type of point scoring, **** throwing and petty name calling.

Just critically think and enjoy the discussion or debate, don't let it ruin your day honey bun!

Never called you anything petty nor would I want to assume critical thinking is your strong point.

The only assumption i'd make of you is that your a bit of a 'two sheds'. If anyone on this forum had a shed you'd have two.

Or as the stereophonics said "if i had myself a flying giraffe" "You'd have one in a box with a window".

Definately a lifestyle choice...

Good luck with that, I hope life gives you all you want from it

I quite like our laws on hate speech. It doesn't censor people until their words are likely to bring harm upon others. In theory an Irish person can broadcast the most hate filled views they want but provided they don't incite any action or promote vigilantism, it's fine. In practice both usually come hand in hand.

I think any attempt to incite violence or the irresponsoble use of a platform likely to incite violence should be punished. It'svery easy to make a disclaimer that government should be pushed to make the desired changes rather than the public taking it into their own hands.

Our censorship laws are a joke however. In practice they aren't very active, it generally goes in line with public morality which is much changed from the Catholic Church run state of the last century (10,000+ publications were banned between the conception of the state and as late as 2016).

That legislation being in place is sho dangerous however if under the control of anyone with nefarious objectives.

Define 'harm'?

Define 'harm'?
Sorry, corrupted link.

Including but not limited to*:

Damaging property
Threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour in a public place
Assault
Assault causing harm or serious harm
Harassment

*in practice it'd be limited to crimes of similar or increased severity to those above.

Its quite shocking how many people think its fine to create a toxic workplace.

And its usually just one or two indivduals.
