A Political Thread pt. 2

Quite a good documentary from the FT 6 years on from the Brexit vote.

Well the cost of living crisis is now starting to pinch people.

I was speaking to a friend of mine who has been told by her children's nursery that parents are now going to have to provide slippers and blankets for the kids as they won't be able to put the heating on as much.

She's now worries they may close down, and if so she'd have to leave her job due to no childcare.

I've just had my gas bill increased to £246 per month, compared to £38 this time last year.

I fully expect a lot of closures this winter in the UK

Reality is there was never a fact based conversation about Brexit from the start. It's always been an emotional and nationalistic conversation. It will go down in history as one of the worst decisions a country ever made, but its full impact will not be felt for years. The people who voted for it will be slightly poorer, the next generation will be a lot poorer. All these lower growth stats and less trade deals by companies will be like a snowball that gathers and gathers over years.

Talking of big tests, she's about to go into the lion's den at PMQs. She will no doubt be spouting the usual 'charting a new course for growth" BS.

I can't believe that people are talking about Johnson as a contender to take over. He broke the law FFS and only left a few weeks ago. I would rather co-inhabit the country with channel crossers than Boris fanatics.

Robertson asking a complete nothing question what a waste.

"I think there needs to be acknowledge economic reality with people oppsoite" - Liz Truss

What person decided that was a brilliant attack line?

She's desperately trying to deflect attention by accusing Labour of supporting the train strikes. Pathetic!

She just told Blackford that the triple lock on pensions will be honoured even though Hunt already confirmed it wouldn't. What a shambles.

Is that accurate? It isn't even grammatically correct.

Being a fighter not a quitter is fine when it's only your own personal circumstances on the line. It's a shitty attitude when you are playing with an entire country full of people, many of whom will suffer and even die this winter because of you and your government.

Nah I was paraphrasing but she attacked Labour saying they need to face up economic reality......which is batshit insane attack line after you tanked it.
Ok fair enough. So 'accept the reality that we tanked the economy and we're the only ones who can fix it, even though we haven't in 12 years'?
