There's also a process to declassify documents involving other agencies, which he clearly did not follow.

The FBI used to be not intimidated by private security?
Yeah, wtf is that?

They're specifically there find documents, they're told to ignore the big file cabinet that says "INCRIMINATING EVIDENCE - DO NOT OPEN" and they just...move on to the next room?

Not sure how it went down, it could be they refused to open a safe, they didn't have the means to forcibly open it without destroying those inside. Far easier just to slap them obstructing justice.

I have a feeling that the FBI is being super sensitive with how they act on this (or at least the DOJ is). Much better to jot down any nefarious actions than to barge down and allow him to play the victim.

The thing is, for all his protestations of innocence, the fact the Trump team have not been able to keep their story straight is very telling. They've switched between there were no files to there were files but the FBI planted them to he did take them but they were declassified...

Oh look, another "accident" in Russia of an important, influential figure falling out of a window. To think there are those in the west that actually support Putin and want to see his brand of dictatorship here...

So as a matter of interest I went on the Daily Fail comments about the impending cost of living crisis and problems with fuel costs. Know what one of the most popular comments was (other than being angry at the absence of any sort of governance surprisingly)? Blaming renewables. Yep, in a crisis largely driven by oil and gas, your DM readership is convinced renewables are actually the problem. You couldn't make it up, these people are utter morons and incapable of seeing they hold completely contradictory positions simultaneously.

On the one hand we are bad for investing in renewables and simply shouldn't have ever bothered but then renewables are also bad because they haven't get got to a stage where they provide enough to completely offset a massive fossil fuel crisis... Besides coal, which had been in decline for nearly a century, we have been fully exploiting our economical oil and gas reserves. Even without current moves away from it, a lot of the coal in the UK simply isn't economical to mine, as shown by the fact that the final death of it was after coal mining was privatised and still they were being shut down.
It's a mixed bag. The Scandies, Baltics and Germans this week have announced plans for Baltic sea windfarms that can fuel around 25 million households (UK has 27 million).

Last week the next Italian PM (a Mussolini admirer) announced they'll restrict use of Electric Vehicles and encourage petrol cars because EVs "will help China economically".

I wonder which side of this coin Truss will come down on. 🤔

Let's talk about gas bay-bee.

Basically Europe might not be totally screwed this winter because Norway has loads of gas it can give Germany and the UK, Iranian gas does appear able to reach southern Italy via Turkey, Germany has filled up its reserves more quickly than expected, Poland says it doesnt need any from Germany and we can all just choose to hurt the planet instead by burning coal and freezing gas into a liquid from anywhere in the world and importing it to Europe (Liquified Natural Gas, of which North Africa has a fair bit).

Also EU is moving to detach electricity price from gas price fluctuations which I've been banging on about endlessly. Once electricity is demonstrably cheaper than gas and with a widening gap then market forces might actually do something good for once and clean up the continent.

Overall, Europe is responding to the situation better than I expected (both short and long term) but it'll still be an expensive winter.

The defenestrations of Prague need to be labelled by year, so you can keep track of which was which.

The defenestrations of Moscow need a full date and time stamp.

Bets on if Truss does become PM, how long she lasts for? I am guessing two years before she has to call a general election. Am I being too optimistic?

I can see her max'ing out this term and calling an election towards the end after which she'll get booted out after the public sees how rubbish she has been at attempting to deal with the CoL crisis.

Can see a massive two finger salute from Scottish voters which will be the so called de facto Indyref2. I think a Labour Lib Dem coalition is likely - Starmer just needs to keep the old ticker going and he's still likely to rip her a new one at PMQs every week.

I am predicting that her first U turn will be travelling to Edinburgh to meet Nicola Sturgeon after claiming that she would ignore her.

First U turn? She's already had u turns and hasn't even got into office yet. Remember she said about public sector pay being linked to how poor a region was (poorer regions would get less) before u-turning on that? Nah she will likely be up to half a dozen by the time she becomes PM.
