A Political Thread pt. 2

Truss has been a poor foreign secretary with quite a few gaffs during her tenure. Putin put his nuclear forces on special alert after Truss said on TV that she would support Brits travelling to Ukraine to fight Russia. She also showed her lack of Ukrainian geography knowledge and thought some parts of Eastern Ukraine were part of Russia. A big red cross from me in the "Tory party have got no talent" contest.

Ben Wallace and Nadhim Zahawi are probably the best of a bad bunch.

Between 6pm and 8pm tonight, I think results are out shortly afterwards.
Results announced around 9

Key word seems to be "pre-pandemic"
Whilst people may have a problem with karaoke in general, I don't think anyone thinks it's illegal per se.

Elsewhere, Dorries is doing about the most Dorries thing imaginable, and saying that tory party donors want BJ in power, and they're the people who's opinion counts, not backbenchers, and certainly not the constituents of backbenchers.
And that's aside from publicly criticising... the Tory party's pandemic preparation, by attacking Hunt, and forgetting that he was a Tory minister.

Not illegal, but certainly hypocritical. She criticised the booze and party culture in general, not just during the pandemic and it's a culture she was clearly part of.

I'll give a ton of lee-way there we have zero context of when this was, for what even and frequency of such occurrences.

Who cares what's going on in London. It's all about Astana, Kazakhstan isnt it @Yulia?

Pretty much confirms that the recent hiccup there was an internal power struggle and nothing to do with Russia or Turkey meddling. I won't hold my breath that its the dawn of a new democratic age of human rights in Kazakhstan, but I can dream. :p

So voting starts only 131 publically supporting him so some 50 short unlike May who was safe by lunchtime.

He'll probably still win but will be close. Suspect there in support and against there are many snakes.

Unfortunately my MP is one of those who have publicly now declared for Bojo. But not surprised.

Is anyone else finding it odd that people are suggesting the vote against Boris Johnson is a Remained / Rejoiner plot?

Nope, they don't have any actual argument so as usual will have to resort to conspiracy and red meat for the dribblers who still believe a word this government says. Just call anything you don't like a "remainer plot" and the brexiters will instantly go against it, regardless of how stupid opposing it may be. At least that was their playbook for the first year or 2, beginning to wear a bit thin now as the boy can only cry remainer wolf so many times. Hell they even tried to blame remainers for fundamental failings in Brexit, as if we voted for or are driving this thing at all. First they say they don't want remainers having any role in sorting out Brexit and then turn around and blame remainers, who haven't had a role, for it all going wrong.

Hmmm.

Evidence of singing at a karaoke machine year ago when there was no pandemic equates to supporting a booze and party culture?

Tell me, have you ever attended a work Christmas do?

Could this split the Tories?

Fingers crossed for a big train wreck here.

If your critical of people partying in an office environment and then it turns out you were doing similar then yes. Maybe not to the excesses of others, but often the culture builds up over time, so she will have certainly contributed.
