A Political Thread pt. 2

This is from October -

Religious hate crimes hit a record high in England and Wales in the year to March, as offences against Jewish people and Muslims surged in the wake of the Israel-Hamas war.

Some 10,484 religious hate crimes were reported in 2023-24, according to Home Office data published on Thursday. This represented a rise of 25 per cent from 8,370 incidents the previous year and the highest level since records began in 2012.

The increase in offences was driven by attacks targeting Jewish people, which more than doubled to 3,282 incidents over the period, while the number of incidents against Muslims jumped 13 per cent to 3,866.
Ok sorry for messing about. I don't know about what's going on with the Jewish population as Jewish communities tend to be around North London, Manchester and Newcastle which I don't live anywhere near. I also don't have any Jewish friends or former colleagues probably for the same reason. I do know a quite a few Muslims and the rise has happened since the Southport stabbing when lots of disinformation was spread online saying the culprit was a Muslim asylum seeker. Things have calmed a bit with that but there is a rise in the far right in the UK with 5 MPs and a few hundred councillors being from Reform.

Between 2014 and 2024, London experienced a 12% decline in millionaire growth. The ONLY city that performed worse was Moscow!
It was all the Russian millionaires moving to New York

You posted an article with zero evidence except the words of a mentally compromised figurehead. Where are the stats? Joe Biden said he was sharp as a tack. Do you believe that as well? I mean, come on @Saintjay, I know it's Friday, but hitting the pub this early is a little much eh?
I've already posted this one. I'd say lay off the Coors but like most US beers it's nats ****.

Anti-semitism has been on the rise regardless of what you actually think of Corbyn's real view there's no doubt it was on the rise on the left under his leadership. The war in Gaza has led to an uptick globally like Islam some idiots can't distinguish between individuals and groups.

But like you I have no real history where I grew up I think I checked the census and 0.01% identified as Jewish. Even now I think I have 2 Jewish friends (and one of those is American).

Muslims I've known plenty all pretty good people.

Wait what happened, I had to so some work and we move on from civil unrest being good...

Dammit lol.

Oh hang on, we've moved on to 'far right'

Can we first define far right for me, because I've never got one, it seems to mean everything to everyone depending on the context. I don't want to deem something not far right if your definition includes it

From a government paper - they also cover populism in the details. In short it's not easy to define

A narrative of racial and/or cultural threat to a 'native' group arising from perceived alien groups within a society.

The far-right as a whole is amorphous. Its messiness is inherent, stemming from a diverse range of ideologies and narratives enacted over a wide range of geographic contexts by multiple actors.

Shall we rename TRF as The Political Forum with a sub board called The Stranger's Bar where minority interests such as rugby can be discussed?

This thread has become quite surreal.
Discussing the impending collapse of Premiership rugby gets old. Discussing the dysfunctional WRU is boring. Discussing why Scotland or Ireland can't get over the hill is worn out.

Debating how American beer has completely overtaken British swill- now that's good ole fun.

That's actually a really good definition, cheers bud.

I'm still no clearer, but that's probably by design of those who use it

Its like the quote for defining hard-core phonograph. "I know it when I see it"

Im happy with second paragraph I'd add a strong perchance for authoritarianism and allowance for an extreme inequal society through capital.
