I do agree we have some good players and can rebuild but when the core of your pack that you built around goes in a short time, alot of them are young/ quite inexperienced so will take a while to get back ip there but i do take you point.Hmm honestly Exeter team of

Hindsight Baxter should've tried harder to keep Hinckley.
But could sign a top 9 and 10, then look for some more depth style signings target players like Miles Reed or Bayliss at Bath etc.

Much more fair - he'll definitely be a good signing for someone, deserves to be closer to starting than he is at Bath. It'll be interesting to see if he can fulfill his early potential with game time, or if those injuries did for him.Actually Tom Ellis would be a very Baxter style signing.

Still think it should be play in Wales or for the team who's academy you came through but oh well. And i think its Kirsten that's rumoured to be off.Very haha
You should be ok for a couple years, also with this welsh contract problems I think Gatland will be more relaxed.

If Exeter signed everyone up to 3 year contracts then, then they'd all be become due now; and really feeling the squeeze for the cap.
If other teams signed some to 2 years and some to 3 years; then it'd be spread over 2 seasons.

I think part of the problem is that they all came through together at the same (or at least a similar) time, so their contracts are all up for renewal simultaneously. It might be fair to say that could have been accounted for/avoided, but the last time they were negotiating would have probably coincided with cap cuts etc which will likely have limited their options.
The fact that a bunch of them are either ignored (Joe Simmonds and Ewers) or haven't really got a guaranteed place with England (Sam Simmonds and Nowell) isn't going to help keep them in the league.

If Kirsten's fit then he's a capable lock option. Capstick and Pearson have both played some rugby there in the past. Vermeulen could put in a shift there.
