2023-2024 transfers

So Will Fin Smith be playing quite a prominent role straight away for Saints then....

I would assume so, yes. That's good news IMO. Smith looks really promising and it would be good to see how he goes in tandem with Mitchell.

Mad one, that - especially as he's almost definitely marquee so it wouldn't free up cap-space to pick up any Wuss/Wasps players they have their eyes on

Depends how it works
Lawes wage of day 300k can go to marquee and then saints have 300k spare which in this market atm is a lot

Though Biggar's salary-to-date (1/3 of his annual) would still count, so potentially, only half of Lawes' would be freed up.

There's also the possibility that Lawes and Biggar were both still Marquees, having signed new contracts before the allowance reduced (or the grace period after it was announced). IF that's the case, then not a single penny of salary cap is freed up.

Thats a great bit of business if true, who hasnt been snapped up yet? Because there will be some good players for a good price.

Another short term signing from Munster from the English rugby fallout. Lock Kiran McDonald is joining us on a 3 month deal from Wasps. Definitely needed as we are currently missing RG Snyman, Fineen Wycherley, Paddy Kelly, Tadhg Beirne and now Jean Kleyn and Thomas Ahern.

We will likely start tomorrow with one healthy senior squad lock who has only played three times, and a (admittedly hugely talented and massive) 19 year old.

He's a really strong squad player and has a toughness and strong work ethic. Will really add to Munsters squad and is also got on well with Ryan by all accounts.
Good bit of business, really reminded me of what Bradley Davies, Gaskell and Symons gave us in a strong squad player.

Matt Everard to tigers is a good signing honestly thought he might be in the running to be wasps head coach or something after the take over been excellent with their academy setup
Honestly a better signing that Atkinson in my opinion. Atkinson will be a quality prem player but Everard will find you 10 +. The quality the academy has produced and also the players Everard has helped find.

Academy lads - Spink, J Willis, T Willis, Porter, Barbeary, Umaga, Simonds, Atkinson, Hartley, Cardall, Curran, Oghre at least as regular 1st team players not counting the likes of Ma'asi White, Fislau, McArthur, Bell Brown, Kuecka, Feyi-Waboso etc.

However, he also played a key part with Blackett in finding a number of players from Champ i.e. Frost, Cardall, Vukasinovic, Alo, Morris, Hislop, Millar-Mills, Cruse (kind of) and Wolstenholme.

Hell of a pickup by Benetton, can't help but think he'll move somewhere significantly better at the end of the season though

Thinking about that move a bit more it has started to make a bit more sense now

Clubs have lost two home games per season (more if they've got Wasps/Wuss in the LV= Cup or in Europe) - if Biggar wants to move to Toulon, and Saints have adequate cover (which they do now with Finn Smith joining) even if it doesn't open up extra room in the cap it will still save Saints hundreds-of-thousands of pounds in salary they don't have to pay to Biggar now, and that could be the difference in keeping your head above water

Biggar to Toulon Conf with immediate effect
Probably the right move for Saints and Dan. We'd have got 4\5 games out of him for the remaining season. He's been great for Saints and we have the cover for him. So it appears it's the right decision for all involved. Majority of Saints fans are wishing him well as do I.

Mills joins until the end of the season, happy with that
