[2022 Six Nations] France vs England (19/03/22)

People a bit harsh on smith; when there is little time left and you need two tries it's ok to take a risk, especially given how close those risks were to coming off - shows they were measured risks

Perhaps not ten more phases but a modicum of restraint and patience would go a long way. Even if this were NZ, those plays are far from a likelihood to come off.

Well done France. Totally deserved and now they've sealed the GS deal they'll just get better.

England, who knows? A couple of committed performances in the last two games but that's not enough.

France more than deserved winners, congratulations to them - they've some serious serious players and have got the mental strength to go with it too
They might go all the way at the RWC - I've got them as my favourite right now

England?
Weeeeee're ****, and we know we are
Weeeeee're ****, and we know we are
Honestly now sure where to start with what needs to change

But isn't that the thing with International rugby?
You got to be able to play different ways.

It's not like you can play Quins style of rugby at this level
Not just that, but isn't that the thing with international rugby? you can't adapt the gameplan to best suit each of your players - and their backups...

We're not set up to get the best out of Dombrandt - but then, he's not good enough to deserve an international team that's set up to get the best out of him. Nor is Simmonds (who would require a different set-up) or Vunipola (who would require yet another different set-up) - and I haven't even moved past the 8-shirt!

Kit supplier. I blame Umbro.

"Ah look, it was a very good French side, this is still a young side, we're still putting our game together, it's a young side, we'll have an unstructured attack, with a young side and no-one will be able to react to that, and that young side so it'll be great, mate."

So let's look at some figures from this year and last year:
2020:
- First negative points difference at the end of the tournament in the 6N ever
- Worst points conceded
- Largest defeat to Scotland
- Largest points conceded against Wales (ok this was dodgy but still)
- Joint worst 6N finish for us
- Joint 2nd worst tries conceded
- At the time, joint 2nd worst tries difference (scored vs conceded)

2021:
- 3rd worst points difference
- 3rd worst tries for
- 2nd worst tries conceded
- Worst try difference

Jones is hitting or nearly hitting repeated "worst ever in 6N" stats for England now and it shows now sign of changing. This is ignoring that his 2018 campaign had a few worsts too. Pretty sure his tenure after the first 2 years has also been one of the least disciplined with the highest number of penalties. He has just got to go. He's not got a single redeeming feature coaching wise in England these past 2 years. Both our attack and defence are a shambles, he can't retain any coaches, the coaches he does have are complete nobodies, he keeps ******* around with player positions, his substitutions are non-sensical and his tactics don't seem to have anything beyond kicking aimlessly and hoping for the best.

But they did very almost come off so…

Plus how can you phase when the forwards aren't committed to securing rucks?
