[2020 Autumn Nations Cup] Wales vs England (28/11/20)

Fell asleep watching this game. Gonna have to watch the highlights later.

was it really that bad a game?
If you want to watch a team kicking competition with the catchers calling the mark, then you'll love it.

Wasn't bad, just not very good. We didn't play well, but once we got the lead we didn't look like losing. Tbh in terms of attack it feels like England are stuck in 1st/2nd gear.

I suspect some (maybe most) will. I said 'personally' as in my point of view. But it still doesn't answer why it makes you happy that Wales are ATM crap?
I like beating Wales,
I like seeing AWJ lose,
I like seeing the (vocal minority) of Welsh fans on SM eat some humble pie

For any who wonder why we might like seeing Wales fail now, look at the aftermath of 2013, 2015 and 2018. Welsh fans for years have dished it out at the drop of a hat and been by some distance the most vocal at rubbing every English failure in our faces. Any SM post about England the top voted post is invariably a negative one, by a Welshman and upvoted by tons out other Welshmen. More than any other nation dragging up past failures, adding our loss to SA now to that list (which is ridiculous considering Wales have never got to a final). Wales also kept playing stupid games with England such as 2015 ******* about with the tunnels, every year whinging about the roof, Gatland constantly lobbing stupid barbs.

So letting Wales suffer for a bit is a nice change of pace, god knows the Welsh have certainly dished it out enough.

Video going round of Genge headbutting Francis, so guessing we'll be without him next game

Seen the video, so hard to tell if he actually makes contact with his head or not as another Wales players walks across when it happens. Definitely possible, but need a better angle really.

Oh I see. He was mean to me so I will be mean back. :)
Look I understand where you are coming from.. I grew up with the same BS coming from English fans but even at a young age I decided not to partake in gloating. Makes me feel better with myself. Each to their own I guess!

Yeah that seems inconclusive. Francis didn't seem to make much of it during the time so it was probably nothing. You would imagine getting headbutted would make you go nuts (or even play acting more to bring attention to it)

I think you're taking it far too much to heart,

People are pleased to beat one of our oldest rivals - nothing wrong with that.

Realistically: I don't really care. I'm far more concerned at our performance than the result of the match.

Speaking of which:

Definitely not 'clear as day'.

Looked more like a charge than a headbutt. Certainly not as obvious as 'AJF' is suggesting.

If Pivac believes Wales lost because of the ref, he has bigger problems than I thought.

Christ. WOL reporting is terrible. It's a **** rag. I wouldn't take much stock.
Peoples online presence usually take on different forms of real life personas.
I always take real fans (who at the very least travel to away games) much more reasonable to have banter with

Just another performance on EJ ways to win games.
Like it or not effective ways to win.
Guess we need to do it one game more than last time.
No one pretends its pretty but highly effective.
Probably most supporters of International teams only wish to win .

The set-piece, especially the scrum, was ultimately Wales' undoing, although it certainly got better with the replacements.

The issue I have is it feels a bit like 2017 where we were still winning but it felt scrappy and unconvincing. We are defending pretty well but it feels extremely all or nothing, we rely on stopping teams on the gain line but our defence is actually pretty poor if players miss their first up tackles or we can't stop teams on the gain line. We aren't playing what's in front of us, we are playing what we are being coached to, which means if sides find out how to counter it we are ******. Once teams start chipping over the top or dropping bombs on our wings, our defence too often begins to crumble. Considering our gameplan relies so heavily on kicking, we are actually pretty poor at defending against it done to us.

I think Watson's cameo should hopefully have put the idea of JJ as a starting winger to bed - kick chase was so much better with him on, and he's much more secure under the high ball than the others (though May did have that great take in the 2nd half)
